Who are we?
Where are we heading?
And who will we be when we get there?
My year-end politics column.
Please read it (🙏🏽), no matter who you voted for, because - where are we heading?
John Campbell: Are we on the cusp of something new or something old?

A superb article this morning from John Campbell that articulates better than I ever could how I'm feeling about the new coalition. https://t.co/lryoQuAcAA
#BHN Willis and Bishop said that every dollar spent on ferries infrastructure is a dollar you can't spend on hospitals, roads and schools
Has anyone told them that every dollar you give landlords or in tax cuts is also a dollar you can't spend on roads, schools and hospitals?
I know it's mean but I kind of laugh at swing voters who voted National & are now WTFing about National being National. I'm sorry but they literally brought it onto themselves. They fucked about & are finding out. They sowed & now must reap. Monique thinks they're dumb #NZPol
The new govt's plan to reopen oil and gas exploration is one of the most irresponsible things they could do in a climate crisis.

We need at least 15,000 of you so we can send a clear message to the new PM.

@FoxyLustyGrover You have totally made my day Foxy. This place held no joy for me while you weren’t around. Totally agree about the new three way abomination of poor-people haters.
Enough of polls, polls are way of mark, they are polls apart from what the real good Kiwis want. Everyone please get out & vote. When Labourites all vote, Labour wins. Keep cult religion out of our politics. The 3 best choices #votelabour#votegreen or #votemāori for all of us.
#BHN The arrogance of the man thinking he can just say "I'm not going to get into this with you" is repugnant.
It looks like John Key tried something similar, then found out it wouldn't work, then admitted it wouldn't work...Luxon needs a lesson in humility

A lot of people going on about yet another study showing New Zealand had the best covid response in the world, but the whole thing was totally overblown. I walked around with a mask below my nose the whole time & only got covid twice. Not sure who I passed it onto but the old people who I spoke to when I was contagious would have died happy knowing they'd met me.
Something to consider:
Maybe not foisting all of society's responsibilities onto teachers is a good way to recruit and retain them.
Asking one person to ensure that children's academic and socioemotional needs are met has never been sustainable, but here we are.
@TheDailyBlogNZ@CitizenBomber Interesting article. I was a bit distracted about confusion between moral and morale which I think is the word the author means.
I have noticed that two of my students aged 13 with ADHD who are barely literate, are amazingly good at the game “Five Second Rule”. It requires three answers within five seconds. Has anyone else noticed this or something similar?
@Hilary_Barry I gave my grandmother’s fur coat to the visual Centre so they can use it to make animals in tactile books for children who are blind or low vision. BLENNZ can use them
@kirsty_johnston Tūranga has a set of Listeners in the stacks. My blind son gets us to read the tv schedules to him from the 1980s so he can memorize them.
