I’m a founder, and after hiring for years, one thing is painfully clear:
Hiring isn’t hard.
Hiring the right person, someone who owns the role and actually delivers, is extremely hard.
I get flooded with resumes. Most get rejected fast. Why?
Everyone claims they can “do everything.”
But the core strength I’m looking for is either missing… or completely buried.
Example: I’m hiring an editor who’s strong at animation.
Show me your animation work.
Show me the design sense and thinking behind it.
Don’t try to impress me with a laundry list of every skill under the sun just to get the job.
Yes, in this era we all need to be somewhat jack-of-all-trades.
But that doesn’t mean your core strength should disappear.
At a bootstrapped startup, we can’t afford to experiment freely.
One wrong hire can slow everything down.
One rotten mango really can spoil the entire basket.
So here’s my ask to fellow founders:
When you post a role, make the intent crystal clear. Let the right people self-select.

It’s been 5 days since someone hacked my Gmail.
They changed the password, enabled 2FA, set up backup codes, and even added a passkey.
I’ve lost access and have a lot of important Google Sheets in there (nothing useful to the hacker).
Anyone here know the best way to recover a fully locked Google account in this situation? Any tips or success stories appreciated.
