Walking into Union Ridge school in Chicago I saw this wall. Now this is what I’m talking about!
“You have your thing… Be the kid who does the right thing. Be the nice kid.”
Facts!
If students aren’t getting enough physical education, movement, & recess, don’t blame them when they get restless, fidgety, & can’t focus in class. Children are active by nature & need to move. Exercise enhances focus, self regulation and brain performance.
Building relationships doesn't just help with behavior in the classroom, but students also work harder for teachers they like and respect. Relationships before rigor.
After 16 years, I decided to hang up my shorts and gym shoes and accepted an elem. AP position. The value of P.E. is instilled in me and always will be.
