By cutting what amounts to penny costs, the Trump administration will effectively (at least temporarily) cripple the global cybersecurity system — CVE. What is CVE? It is a global system for identifying and tracking vulnerabilities that has served as a common language for companies, governments, and researchers worldwide since 1999. The consequence will be a breakdown in coordination between vendors, analysts, and defense systems — no one will be certain they are referring to the same vulnerability. Total chaos, and a sudden weakening of cybersecurity across the board.
Meeting today with @ICANN CEO Mr. Kurtis Lindqvist. The EU will continue to support the multistakeholder model of Internet governance. We are looking forward continue collaborating closely with ICANN in these important times.
2/Any benefits from using good secure messaging & doing it right (I put Signal in that box) get bypassed if you are hacked & someone is reading from your screen & capturing keys you press.
Today, officials have to worry about phones getting silently hacked from all sides.
3/Signal use by VP & cabinet left me wondering: are *all* these phones checked for spyware like Pegasus?
Do they know if a Chinese hacker ever jumped on?
Are these secured work devices?
Experience suggests maybe not.

Update: yesterday, the 🇧🇪 shared the consultation's conclusion, already dropping the idea of a Digital Diplomacy WP as "we do not want to rush a thorough institutional reform." Still, there seems to be a consensus on a clear mechanism for close coordination with member states.
