PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT: More Than Just Buying Stocks
=====================
Having several stocks in your portfolio does not automatically mean you have a well-managed portfolio. Portfolio management is about knowing what you own, why you own it, how much you have invested in each stock, and what you will do when the market moves.
A good portfolio should be diversified across different companies and sectors. This helps reduce the damage if one stock performs badly. But diversification does not mean buying 30 or 40 stocks. A smaller number of carefully selected companies can be easier to understand and manage.
Another important part is position size. Owning eight stocks means little if most of your money is concentrated in one of them. Always ask yourself: “If this stock falls 20%, how badly will it affect my portfolio?”
Also, don't panic whenever a stock falls. Before selling, find out whether the business has actually deteriorated or whether the share price is simply having a bad period. The same applies to stocks that are rising, you shouldn't keep buying just because the price is going up.
And don't forget CASH. Keeping some money aside gives you the opportunity to buy when good stocks become cheaper.
Most importantly, know why you own every stock in your portfolio. If you cannot explain why you bought it, you probably shouldn't be holding it.
Think of your portfolio like a football team. You don't need 20 strikers. You need different players performing different roles, some for growth, some for dividends, some for stability, and others for sector exposure.
The goal is not to own the most stocks. The goal is to build a portfolio that can survive, grow and make you money over time.

If you not have these stocks in your portfolio I don't know what you're doing on ngx;
GTCO/ZENITHBANK
DANGCEM/HBM (LAFARGE)
MTNN
ARADEL/SEPLAT
PRESCO/OKOMU
As investor(s), never buy a #STOCK because of the HEADLINE alone. Read the FINANCIAL STATEMENTS first. The same principle applies to PUBLIC ISSUES, always separate the FACTS from the NOISE.
