KEKUATAN SABDA YANG MENGHIDUPKAN

Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, kita banyak mendengar dan mengucapkan kata-kata. Ada katakata yang baik untuk didengar, seperti kata-kata yang membangun, menguatkan, menghibur, memuji, dan memotivasi. Ada pula kata-kata yang bersifat teguran ketika kita melakukan kesalahan. Namun, ada juga kata-kata yang tidak pantas diucapkan maupun didengar, seperti fitnah, ejekan, sumpah serapah, sindiran, serta perkataan yang melumpuhkan semangat dan melukai hati sesama.

Di tengah banyaknya suara dan perkataan itu, ada satu pribadi yang kata-kata-Nya sangat perlu kita dengarkan, yaitu Tuhan sendiri. Sabda Tuhan selalu benar, jujur, tepat, dan tidak berubah oleh negosiasi maupun kompromi manusia. Firman-Nya menghidupkan, menguatkan, dan mengarahkan hidup kita kepada kebaikan. Seperti tertulis, `Firman Allah hidup dan kuat dan lebih tajam dari pada pedang bermata dua` (Ibr. 4:12). Karena itu, kita diajak untuk berani percaya pada kuasa sabda Tuhan agar hidup kita menghasilkan buah yang baik. Dengan bertekun mendengarkan sabda Tuhan melalui pembacaan Kitab Suci, kita akan semakin dikuatkan dan dibentuk oleh-Nya. Kita akan merasakan betapa manisnya hidup yang dituntun oleh firman Allah, sebab Tuhan sendiri menjadi perisai bagi kita.

In the early 1600s, Japanese authorities expelled all Christian missionaries and launched severe persecutions. Priests were killed or forced to leave, leaving thousands of Japanese converts completely isolated from the Church.

For over 250 years, these faithful souls, known as the “Hidden Christians” (Kakure Kirishitan), lived in secrecy. They had no priests, no public Masses, no sacraments, and no Bibles. Yet their Catholic faith did not vanish.

They passed down the teachings of Christ from generation to generation. They secretly baptized their children. And in the silence of their homes, they clung to one powerful lifeline: the Holy Rosary.

Using simple knotted cords instead of beads, they prayed the Rosary daily. The mysteries of Christ’s life became their catechism. The Hail Marys and Our Fathers became their prayers, their comfort, and their hidden Mass.

Through the Rosary, they remained united with Jesus and Mary even in the darkest decades of persecution.

When missionaries finally returned to Japan in the mid-1800s, they were astonished to find entire communities still faithfully preserving the Catholic Faith, all because of the Rosary.
