Sometimes, I wonder if it needs more than common sense to see a crisis coming.

Look at a typical case of Maharashtra.

It was always a water scarce state.
Yet, it has been made into India's largest ethanol-producing state, with roughly 315 crore liters annual capacity.
Not only that, Maharashtra hosts almost half (45%+) of the entire country's upcoming data centers by capacity.
And now, 75% of Maharashtra is declared to be under severe drought.

And then we call it as a 'natural' disaster.

So while villages wait for tankers, policymakers are encouraging more sugarcane, more ethanol, and more data centres.

A state facing drought should treat water as capital, not as an unlimited free resource.

At the end of the day, no one can drink ethanol or eat data to survive.
One will need water - for sure.
