Your universal credit decreases as your earnings from work increase. The amount your universal credit decreases by is known as the taper rate. It’s currently 63% - which means you lose 63p of universal credit for every £1 you earn through work. #SpendingReview
Universal Credit taper cut to 55% from 63% still leaves lowest income workers paying a higher marginal tax rate than millionaires(45%).
Oh, and those lowest paid may also pay Income Tax and NI on top.
