Res 2771 unanimously adopted today by the #UNSC, renewing #UNFICYP mandate, with the consent of Cyprus, for 1 year. #UNSC supports the efforts of the #UNSG for the resumption of negotiations & reaffirms the agreed basis for a solution based on a bizonal, bicommunal federation.

#Cyprus has been elected, for the first time, to the @UN_HRC for a three-year term 2025-2027 with 167 votes from 189 UN member states that participated in the electoral process.

Thank you to the @UN member states for the support & trust!

We look forward to working with all #UN member states to promote human dignity, equality and justice worldwide. Together, we can achieve the full enjoyment of human rights for all.

36,2% of Republic of Cyprus territory remains occupied.

162,000 Greek-Cypriots became refugees in their own country.

1619 persons declared missing.  Today, 758 persons’ fate remains unknown.

20,000 Greek-Cypriots and Maronites chose not to leave their homes.   Today, 331 people are still enclaved.

Μore than 43.000 Turkish troops remain in the occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus.

Since 1974, more than 160,000 Turks settlers were transferred to the occupied areas, altering Cyprus’ demographic profile and population balance.

Geographical names have been illegally changed and cultural and historical heritage is systematically eradicated aiming to the eventual "turkification" of the occupied areas.

For sixty years, #UNFICYP has played an invaluable role.
