Both journals were notified of this incidence. They should develop policies on AI generated reviews and the usage of AI during editorial process! (The one from @MolBioEvol was supposedly written by one of the associate editors)
Got most shocking AI-generated reviewer comments in my 17-year career. The two verbatim comments were independently received from @genomeresearch and @MolBioEvol on two versions of our manuscript. And no they weren’t the same reviewer ‘cos other views differed.
If it weren’t because of those verbatim sentences, perhaps these AI generated, incorrect comments would never have been caught. It is scary to think that your paper would be rejected by an AI who doesn’t even know what they are talking about. Pathetic!
We know these were from AI ‘cos we did not use LD at all and no where in Figure 4 says LD. The comment received from @genomeresearch were full of self contradictions, like equating our sample size with chromosome number.
