#MainVaapasAaunga Heartfelt Period Drama with a Lasting Emotional Impact!

A slow-burn love story set mainly during the Partition era that takes its time to build. First half is slow at times but passable, while the second half is where the film truly shines, and builds towards an emotional climax that leaves you with a heavy heart long after the film ends. The pacing issues and lengthy runtime are noticeable, and Diljit’s subplot doesn’t work much, but they don’t derail the film.

AR Rahman’s music may not offer instant chartbusters, but it blends seamlessly into the narrative and stays with you after. Naseeruddin Shah delivers an award winning performance, while Vedang and Sharvari are also good in their roles. Imtiaz Ali crafts an emotional drama that doesn’t always hit every note, but succeeds where it matters most.

May not be for everyone, but for those willing to invest in a slower-paced emotional drama, this one works well and is one of the better watches in recent times.
