Coaches can’t have players missing practices & games, especially during holidays.Sacrificing family functions during holidays is part of learning team pride.Congrats to parents for teaching their sons & daughters what it means to sacrifice for being a team member!
Mike Krzyzewski, Jay Wright, & Roy Williams were at the top of their profession & retired. They still had more wins in them but did the NIL & portal cause early retirements.Coaches survived Covid but can they survive NIL & portal!
Ever since the NCAA installed NIL’s, there’s been more pressure on coaches to win & players to perform.Officials have more pressure to get calls right.More reviewing reviewed plays leads to longer games.5 hr. FB games are on the horizon!
Bb season is here. Most players work hard to develop Bb skills over the summer.Hopefully, part of their summer’s work was mental & physical toughness.Skills aren’t enough without toughness. If skills & toughness meet, total players are developed & rewarded with playing time!
Upsets in college sports have always occurred.Coaches & administrators have been answering questions about embarrassing losses forever. With the NIL, add one other phone call from donors that give millions to NIL’s.Their only question,”Did we buy the right players?”
Bb has changed by playing more guards to shoot 3’s.Offenses are designed for driving & pitching for 3’s.Rebounds go further out so guards can crash the boards for second shots! This leads to more pts.Example,Houston Cougars found the Fountain of Youth in extra pts, by rebounding!
5 of the top 11 football teams lost this past weekend. Look at the NIL money those top colleges paid out for some of the top talent in the country. Then, they were beaten the old fashion way, by players with HEART & a less NIL.Sometimes it not the $, it’s HEART! Expect more!
There are many things going on in our country, good & bad. Take the family to a college sporting event. Your individual worries will be forgotten for a couple of hours. You’ll be engaged with game festivities. The only issues being thought about, “Is your team winning?!”
College coaches had in house visits & were asked by parents how good is the academic field in my child’s major? Where will my child live? How many returning players are back in my child’s https://t.co/2f6zQPJhYM, first questions are “Do you have NIL money & how much do we get”?
If Coach Smith could’ve had a Patent on his Four Corner Offense,Coach Calipari on Dribble Drive Offense, & Coach Carril on the Princeton Offense, they could have made a lot of money.Luckily, stealing plays in Bb is legal & everyone happily does it.Just steal the right ones!
A college coach’s best player walks into his office after a great season. The coach expects to talk about how school is going or next year’s team.Instead, the player asks if there is NIL money or he will put his name into the portal.Don’t laugh, it’s coming to a HS near you!
Early practices to start the year should be 45% tough defensive drills,35% offensive plays & shooting, 10% skill work, & 10% special plays.lMost important are toughness drills that lead to dirty work that wins games.Toughness in early practices allow early & late wins!
Before you shoot, get open. Before you pass, be sure the player is open. Before you guard, know the player’s offensive tendencies. Before you celebrate, know the final score. If you do the before’s early, the end results will have better outcomes!
HS or AAU coaches don’t have to say a word to college coaches about the type of person or player you are.Body language, not playing hard, playing selfishly,or parents acting up in the stands will indicate if you obtain a scholarship or if you keep wondering why you have no offers!
I’m too short, use your speed. I can’t shoot, get the ball to teammates that can.I can’t rebound, get loose balls & deflections. Not too many players can do it all.Focus on positive skills & work on deficiencies.Find someone that will push to develop your good & bad tendencies!
Good players don’t like playing with lazy players. They want to play with players that play hard.Soft players won’t play tough defense & won’t win unless they buy into toughness like their top players. If you’re not a top player, your equalizer,Play Hard!
If you could coach before you played, you’d be a better player. If you could coach before being a fan, you’d respect coach’s decisions. By seeing yourself in the stands griping before a game, you’d relax more for that game.If first visions were realized, bad issues wouldn’t happen!
This time of the year, HS players should concentrate on skill work, travel ball, & strength & conditioning. This helps improve play for school ball but too much travel, too many games,&too many practices, can cause burnout that leads to injuries.Fresh mind=fresh feet=healthy body!
If a player was able to get thousands or millions in their NIL, why can’t they pay for their own scholarships. That money could be put back into the program to be used for others not getting NIL money!Paying for your own scholarship, might also make you think more about graduating!
Most people agree athletes should be compensated some for their services. No matter how much money players make, they still have 18 yr. old minds.Check pros that have gone bankrupt with no degrees.Wrong if a college student makes more than 1st. yr. pros. It’s all about $$!
