@JustDaemata If you remember, this was the first time they had Aunt May die - abs it was a poignant, meaningful death. Then they brought in the bullshit later on that it wasn’t really her, but an actress, taking away the opportunity to release the character and have Peter/Ben move forward..

@JustDaemata It’s a shame, because the fans wanted Peter & MJ together AND for him to have a kid. We got glimpses in “renew your vows” but it wasn’t great. (I’m not a Slott fan except for Superior- which shows he knows Doc Ock better than Peter.)

@JustDaemata Had fans accepted Ben, then Marvel never would have had to do OMD. There is some of the best stuff ever in JMS’ run, but also the controversial with Gwen & Osborn (“sins past.”) Marvel couldn’t figure out what they wanted to do after his identity reveal in Civil War.

@JustDaemata But because fans rejected Ben, which would’ve led to a Spider-Man free from a relationship, they went back to a semi-status quo, not letting Peter have a family. The thought was Spider-Man has to be young and single with girl and money trouble - makes no sense post “Superior.”
