Suddenly, there was something so asinine and bizarre that erupted and seduced all of my friends - the “emperors new clothes”. I was looking for meaning and purpose in life, and for a while my purpose was to try to encourage my friends not to touch the stuff if you knowaddamean. I was reading children’s Bible stories to my 5 year old and “Daniel in the Lions Den” was being replayed with the jab as the new idol. Twas obviously a chance for me to pass a test but I guess it wasn’t so obvious to everyone else. I’m glad I had my 5 year old to help make that story front and center in my mind.
Lighting gaffer here. The highlight that runs along the perimeter of the neckline would not exist if the under light was poweful enough to cast this shadow from below. There is an underlight or reflector slightly visible in the eyes and below lens level, but it is about 2 stops below the above camera key light that casts the shadow under his nose.
Shakespeare may have had a point. “Hell is empty, and all the devils are here.” Our animal nature undisciplined by the mind of Christ can look like demonic possession running free. Social media can seduce people to elicit passions, opinions, and self-righteous Pharisee-like fervor without the filter of Jesus’ virtue.
In Jung’s “Answer to Job” there is an argument that God completes the debt that (careful now) God owes to man through Job’s resolution to NOT CURSE GOD: God becomes man (Jesus) and bears the curse (as Job suffered at the hand of Satan by way of a bet). In this way, the so-called demiurge (child-god) became complete-through Christ, just as we are completed in Christ. It’s an argument that can start a fight, but it serves to argue for the goodness of God despite the severity of the Old Testament and is a powerful counterpoint to Nietzsche.
@anatelorenzen@bryan_johnson “…For yours is the kingdom, power, glory. Amen. …”and with that we have dealt with the problem of the ‘self’ and become vessels of the Father, making ourselves children of God.
@FaceLikeTheSun@bryan_johnson Yes. This prayer is THE prayer. Each line is deeper than the ocean in its richness. All the triumphant disciplines in any of the religions, and the greatest ‘discoveries’ of psychology, were already encapsulated by the Lord’s Prayer. If we pray it like a child, we do well.
i.e. Subjectivism over objectivism. Jesus in the gospel of John is described as the “word”. Also “logos”. It’s as if there is a latent image of structure, order, and truth embedded in reality (not unlike the cabalistic ‘sparks of divinity’ idea) that communicates a state of potential homeostasis (balance, wholeness) at every juncture of existence. Sometimes it’s arrived at by faith and ambition, sometimes by letting go.
4:00 - my favorite part. I got bit 3 years ago perhaps during a hike in Tennessee and stopped eating for 3 days and my body ran outta salt. Organs got mad. I was told it almost killed me. Don’t know for sure what it was. Lots of time in hospital. Lots of prayer. When it was over we had more questions than answers. I’m fully functional and no issues at all. Amen thank you Jesus.
Tacky. Gotta get smart and be more perspicuitous mi amigo. To set it up they may have had to hang it by the neck to get it there. If you’re already playing defense and making excuses for it, it’s a signal that the act lacks prudence. Maybe stick to a more Clint Eastwood ‘man with no name’ aesthetic, or the iconic mug shot, but avoid the Demi-god Darius-style stuff. Foolish.
So what? If they are successful at developing their own unassimilated culture and it serves them well, then take note and do likewise if you want your idealized culture to survive. They have an excellent game plan. We shouldn’t throw a pity party for ourselves but rather ‘buck up’ and determine what kind of culture actually functions successfully. They don’t have to play nice if their strategy is superior. Gentiles need to be shrewd as serpants and gentle as doves and offer develop a culture with Christ at the center of it wants to compete adequately, or simply suck it up and stop protesting.
