I did a beekeeping course this weekend and it was so fun and interesting, I'm super excited to be able to be able to look after my own bees, seeing them up close in the hive was such an amazing experience

Very happy to see the government have changed their mind on allowing the use of bee killing neonicotinoid-based pesticides on the sugar beets, I hope this is never an option they consider again.

I finished filling a skip today and just as I left it was blessed by a little bee (excuse the gross carpet, it's from about 30 years ago)

@rosiejarvisart Yeah it's really concerning, as I understand it's only being given the ok for sugar beet seed treatment, and it's apparently being heavily controlled but I have no confidence that the criteria for these "special cases" will not keep loosening as and when it's convenient

Ah good, now we're out from under the oppressive thumb of the EU we can take control of our laws and go back to *checks notes* ah yes, decimating our bee population with neonics once again. I hope the "Limited and controlled use" is not just in name but also in practice.
