I think you're doing just fine Strawb. I only started following you here not even a week ago, but I like reading your takes on various subjects. I've been watching your husband's YT for a few years. I myself am trying to find my way back to faith as well, so I understand where you're coming from. It's been pulling at me for more than a few years. I am honestly scared of going back fully for my own reasons. I've appreciated a lot seeing yours and others' testimonies on X as I feel they are just another little nudge forward in the right direction.

As an aside, when I had my first baby I completely disconnected from social media for about 7-8 years. If you ever feel like you need to disconnect it is perfectly understandable (maybe my example is a bit excessive though). People are hostile online anymore. Do whatever you feel is best and will help you through these times.

I grew up in the 90s as well and remember those ads and the attitude people had about sex all through my teens/20s, then seeing where things are now. It's fair to criticize the downplaying of sex/images in public and culture given what we know now. Privately idc, but publicly is different. I think it's a bit disingenuous to attack her for things that aren't true. From what I have seen her conversion seems genuine, she's also a mother so it makes sense to want to strive for a better outcome for her child than what we had to fight through. I relate to that greatly as I have kids too, and the world is a mess right now.

Don't panic too much I highly doubt it'll get as silly as the Satanic Panic, and if it does it'll have to be dialed back a bit. However, this reaction is hardly surprising either, to be fair.

@not__vee I've been watching your YT for going on 10 years, and I agree with you on most points... but for this I really don't see what you're bent out of shape over. She has been addressing this through a Christian lens, to other Christians (and hasn't said much since those posts).

@GrimmM0nster @snkfanacc Meaning they didn't use convincing arguments, and they attacked things like videogames (to be fair that was both sides) which are completely fictional. It is real imagery I take issue with and that includes all of entertainment not just random celebrities like Sweeney.

@ChibiReviews If he hadn't retained his consciousness from his previous life I don't think it'd have been as egregious. I dropped the series after season 2 tho so maybe it got better. It's Japan though and I've seen many anime since 2000, so I'm used to this. I just move on if it isn't for me.

@snkfanacc we should at least try to go back to some kind of grounded moral code before all this. But I'm the kind of person who thinks it should be largely driven by shifting culture rather than top-down government (for the most part). Ppl should have that freedom to choose for themsleves.

@snkfanacc Yeah I see what you mean. Hopefully the pendulum doesn't swing that far back again, and if it does there'll have to be those of us who will speak up. It's a difficult balance between decency and over-sanitizing things. I just think the sex revolution was a mistake overall and-
