Story up now on the two unhoused folks killed by trees over the weekend, with @RENEECBYER
"She liked biking and hiking and loved books a lot," Rebekah Rohde's daughter said. "She practically had a library when we were growing up."

@ldragoon Would be cool to use it for furniture or neighborhood benches or something that is a reminder of the tree. We have so many trees down in Sacramento.
My neighbors tree has fallen in Tahoe Park ☹️. One of my absolute favorite trees. That makes three trees in just one block between NYE storm and tonight. Hoping these winds let up soon.

@Edurd@SMUDUpdates has been amazing and we are really spoiled and lucky to have them. I would love to see more underground power lines, PGE has commercials out about how they are adding them. Does the interfere at all with tree roots? We definitely need to think of better solutions.
@azow @NotAHoax I guess that’s why they call Chicago the Windy City! We may need to get tips from you all on how to build for wind and ensure our trees stay upright! This was super out of the ordinary for us but we may have to get used to seeing it more. ☹️
@AudioRollers I’m sure that may be the case for some of these trees, we’ve lost eight in two blocks over seven years. We also had wind gusts at 64mph and a lot of the trees feel in the same direction likely due to the wind. It would be great to try and save the remaining ones.
@zettie_geez@phaneritic It’s real grass. Good reminder about synthetic lawn though. Also need to be cautious about putting lots of rocks around the root system since they could cause more heat and dry out roots.
