If FSD belonged to the Tesla account, meaning it could go with you to new vehicles or even in rentals, FSD would triple the take rate.

Many don’t want to buy FSD for $8k to assign to a single vehicle that won’t have any realized value upon trade-in.

@CARN0N well that’s where the drive shaft used to be. the e-motor is still dropped back into the engine bay.
this is what happens when legacy auto tries to make EVs. Hyundai used to do it too. whereas tesla builds from the ground up.

@I_say_GFY @electricfuture5 @TeslaAUNZ I’m in a similar position to you. loyal tesla customer with 3 Teslas. I paid $10k for FSD on my Model X which has never eventuated, and unlikely anytime soon. I then purchased a launch edition model Y and Tesla refuse to allow a transfer of the FSD software to the new car.

@Shaooo6 @TeslaAUNZ I’m in an identical situation. 8 year old model X with FSD thats likely to never run FSD Supervised, so I upgraded to a model Y in May. On top of that, Tesla won’t transfer my FSD software licence.
