@DustinDietz18@corb910 Mansfield just built a whole new soccer stadium. FC Dallas' development team, North Texas SC, will start playing there once the World Cup ends.
Excellent rant here to debunk the bullshit claims that colleges everywhere are making millions/billions off the backs of poor athletes who only get a scholarship many kids would kill for. And the very few athletes who DO make the schools money get paid in the pros eventually.
Nothing you jack's report matters until you actually cover the COLLASAL JACKASSERY of the lawsuits that have destroyed college sports and programs around the country. The funny part about the whole situation is that there are decades of financial reports from every athletic program in the country that prove most programs are not making money. A crap ton are being subsidized by their university. Add in the fact 95+% of athletes never make it to the pros. So, the NIL jackassery was never legit. Revenue sharing was never legit. It was literally GREED brought on by lawyers and players who had 0 interest in the effects that would come down with their quests. College sports are ruined. Then the JUDGES, who are supposed to be some of the smartest in the land, ignored the mountain of financial data that would have killed the suits.
Dallas' biggest problem has always been wanting the people who wear Gucci loafers with spats while Fort Worth and San Antonio aren't afraid of the people who wear boots.
@TimCowlishaw I remember the big scandal being expensive parking
if you want to see how to do an entertainment district right, go to the Pearl in San Antonio or Sundance Square in Ft Worth, it can be done, but you have to be serious about attracting families
Problem is how many in Dallas that think they ARE. Since at least the 1980s Dallas has wanted to be NYC South. Why it frustrates me even more that we can't get any sports here in Fort Worth.
@_steve_o_@TimCowlishaw They went luxury retail, and people coming to hockey games are not looking for luxury shopping or dining. Victory Place has enough length and retail storefront to pull off a shopping district. Dallas is not wealthy enough to support luxury there and Highland Park Village.
Hot take: This prevented the Mavericks from becoming the disasters the Nets and Clippers have been and produced the last NBA champion of actual likeable players. Eye rolling how many people think a Dallas super team would have absolutely worked just because DALLAS.
@fishsports His and Donnie's handling of MANY MANY things since he took over as owner should be mentioned. He dropped the ball on Nash and the did the same thing with Brunson. He took big stupid swings at FA's that not only did he miss, but it cost the team chances like Giannis.
Aladdin didn’t invent the concept of celebrities being in animated movies and Animation Twitter needs to stop spreading that lie.
Two years prior, The Rescuers Down Under had Bob Newhart, Eve Gabor, George C. Scott, and John Freaking Candy!
@rjchoppy This is why I say the media and fans need to just make their own name for these places. What's the point when they change it every ten years?
@Psu7893@gocougs123 Are those 48 schools going to go football only and drop all other sports? They'll be slammed with Title IX violations. Everyone here claiming the big schools will secede aren't thinking things through.
This is why the USA is the unhealthiest city in the world. Even i fell prey to American laziness. If I had walked more over these years I am sure I wouldn't have diabetes now.
Thats a horribly inefficient waste of time. You probably end up spending close to 5 hours just in grocery stores every week if you do this (nevermind the extra hours spent walking there and back as well), when you add up shopping+waiting in line. I'd rather just do 2-3 weeks worth of shopping at once in <2hours, drive my groceries right to my front door, and then not have to go to a store again for a few weeks
There's a reason no one who gets a license ever uses public transit or walks anywhere ever again if they dont have to - its way worse in every way.
Society should be more accommodating to cars, not less. Bike lanes for example, should be illegal
@coopmavs@RobertC74064756@ATTStadium I admit I have become very jaded over the years. When you see stuff like what the Bears are doing to Chicago now, it's hard to trust any owner. I bet Dallas thought neither the Mavs or Stars were ever leaving downtown.
