Hi! I’m recruiting new parents for my dissertation study on multi- and mono-racial families. Please share with anyone who might be interested or who know people who might be interested! Thank you ✨
@AtkinAnnabelle Responding late but I also did this recently for my dissertation research. Happy to chat with anyone about how I did this to screen for “real” participants among other study criteria.
Day 2 takeaways:
▪️When you have an offer in hand, you have the power
▪️Get things in writing
▪️Nothing to lose in asking, lots to lose if you don’t!
▪️Mentors (multiple and varied) are crucial!
Set up at a local coffee shop for Day 2 of @NU_ADVANCE’s #FutureFaculty workshop. A peep at my notes about negotiating offers 👀 So thankful for everything I learned Day 1 and continue to learn!
A couple Day 1 takeaways:
-Applicants are evaluated compared to others at same career stage. The trajectory of our career is what is being estimated.
-Teaching statements also include how you would work with/mentor undergraduates/grad students in your lab
Nuggets of wisdom from Dr. Senier at the #futurefaculty workshop
1: “Can’t let people rent space in your head for free” re: obsessing over negative comments in teaching evaluations
2: tricks to avoid toxic people - if someone comes into your office unexpectedly, stand up

Kids experience stress just like adults, but they may not be able to recognize its symptoms or know how to respond effectively. Parents can help by being available, listening actively, and responding thoughtfully. https://t.co/8RPKXwFGe0
“Finally, by analyzing citation rates of US-based papers, we find that Black and Hispanic scientists receive significantly fewer citations compared to White ones doing similar research.”
Am I surprised? Not necessarily, but I hope we can do better ✊🏽 https://t.co/eH8cMQcnAX
