@databhoys Got the right physicality, can cope mentally, been a top pro and is still v early in his development curve. Far from the Finnished article (😏) but I'd expect him to be no.1 long term. Thrown into business end of the season with a shambles in front of him and stood up well.
Benjamin Nygren 🇸🇪
An enigma. Not rounded enough to be an 8, lacks the pace/technical ability to be a winger and not enough physicality to play up front in🏴. All highlighted by him playing in a dysfunctional midfield which is no longer masked by outstanding forward players.
It appears to be another case of mis-profiling and despite Nygren's goals, his deficiencies as a central midfielder in an already dysfunctional midfield are too much. I'd keep him for next season if Celtic can alter their set up but summer may also be his peak selling point...

For me, he should be playing as a no. 10, not a traditional playmaker but playing between the lines, linking with the striker, using his movement to disrupt defences and arriving late to pick up chances. Remove all of his defensive responsibilities and put that on the two 8s.
On Dane Murray, I think more than half his games for Celtic have either been in Europe or games against Hearts and Rangers. I've always said he's not at the level to play for Celtic but when your pathway is getting chucked into random big games, you've got to feel for him
Thought Mcgregor was excellent over the 90 mins. Badly let down in the first half but Hatate coming on changed things + Tounekti providing width and threat on the ball opened up gaps. Maeda through the middle is still his most effective role in this team.
Celtic reportedly covering Cvancara's £34k p/w wage. £30k for Iheanacho. Adamu's on around £20k at Freiburg, Mvuka closer to £5k at Lorient so assume Celtic covering those. Wonder what Oxlade-Chamberlain's on? You could fund a full recruitment team with one week of their wages 😂
@TheKiltedGolfer@_che88 Running data would only really be available to the club unfortunately. You could look at his pressures/counterpressures but I don't have access to Statsbomb now. Imo he's doing the same but less effectively given where he is on the pitch now + Celtic's lack of pressing structure
On the plus side you add much needed depth and experience plus it's a low risk deal but at the end of the day, UK based players don't tend to end up in the Turkish league for positive reasons... Will be interesting to see how Celtic plan to use him
Oxlade-Chamberlain can only really be a late-game sub when space opens up. Strengths were pace, power & ball carrying. Now 32, no game time, injuries etc he may struggle to get fit and meet the intensity of league games. Also doesn't add the creative spark needed in midfield.
In Oxlade-Chamberlain‘s first season at Beşiktaş, he was an excellent ball carrier who provided a goal threat from midfield.
In his second season, he was moved to a deeper role in midfield and most of his attacking numbers decreased.
I‘d be curious to see how we would use him.
Celtic renegotiate deal to sign Norwegian winger Joel Mvuka on loan after medical issue flagged up in medical. Brentford defender Arthur also agreed

Clearly not Celtic's first choice but appears to have been playing irregularly, and when he does play it's been at wing back. Lorient not a possession dominant team and play on transition...
Good pace and running power, dribbling 1v1, hits the byline and cuts back. Decent
Weird move. Mvuka a mediocre Ligue 1 player, so unless Celtic work miracles on him, he's not going to elevate the level of the squad significantly.
Smacks of the Celtic board feeling they're better doing something rather than nothing, rather than actually making a smart move.
What's getting lost here from Celtic's pov is that this incident is entirely preventable. Back 4 all squeezed onto 1 side, no midfielder shows then decision to throw long v physically superior team. No challenge from Yang, Nygren well off it so no pressure, Tounekti slow to react
🗣️ "I think this is really harsh... the referee has got it right on field."
🗣️ "It's a possible goalscoring opportunity."
