@LesslieNewbigin@wyclif It sounds like, “no learning can take place without being told what can be learnt, and what cannot be. No seeking can be serious if you wander off the set piece. Coming to your own conclusions through critical thought is not allowed”
@smaSaulMendezAr@evolutionisjus1@DrFrankTurek If we understood what you meant, they might help clear things up. But if you can’t explain it, maybe you don’t actually understand it.
@smaSaulMendezAr@evolutionisjus1@DrFrankTurek Genuine question. Your on a thread about love in religion, and quote the founding fathers as an example of people being created equally. In actual fact the founding fathers were adamant that church and state were separate for a good reason. Hence the 1st amendment
@smaSaulMendezAr@evolutionisjus1@DrFrankTurek I’m really struggling to understand how you’ve managed to conflate the bible and the constitution of the US. There ain’t nothing special about the US
@DrFrankTurek Any force which compels you to love it, and threatens hideous retribution if you fail to meet the needs or demands of that love. Is and can not be loving.
@Rockinbones2 @Godawful_83ist @DrFrankTurek Why limit it to ancients. There are tribes been in the Amazon having never in contact with the outside world, functioning adequately within there needs and with a moral framework without the necessity of bringing some elusive god I got the equation.
@FrancisCharter1@From1888@ThatTimWalker Oh please do not break out the Christian persecution myth. If religion were universally wonderful then it would be amazing. But that is sadly not the case.
@FrancisCharter1@ThatTimWalker Some would judge, indeed. There judgements however would only be opinion. And in this case there opinion would be wrong. Canon law, does not allow for de-baptising. Once a catholic, then always a catholic. Even one who is excommunicated is still a catholic
@gstokey@ThatTimWalker Oh, and the only vestiges I have of my Catholicism, is the sometimes crushing sense of guilt snd shame, mixed with the latent mild PTSD I suffer from being raised in a highly religious and catholic environment
@gstokey@ThatTimWalker Hmmmm - struggling to understand your tone, looking at your screenshot I obviously at the time knew someone had blocked me. While mildly humorous not a significant life event and subsequently forgotten. I have slept since then.
@gstokey@ThatTimWalker “Ask” for confirmation??? My word what a lapse environment you occupy. That also was forced. Or at least the opportunity of understanding a varied world view was not offered prior to being once again initiated.
@BillyVacant Oh them pesky people, how dare they think about going about there own lives, like coffe shops and shopping and suchlike when. Billy’s about. They should make sure YOU have enough space.
