Aussie in the UK, learning to re-build wealth from zero with tools we don't have back home. One failed property, now figuring out ISAs out loud. Not advice.
I'm Rox — an Aussie in the UK trying to build wealth from nothing after an expensive property mistake back home. Just a bloke trying to figure it out, sharing what I learn about tools we don't have back home. NOT financial advice. Follow along if you want to watch me have a go.
@TheParaInvestor The Aus super pot? Generally no, but there some avenues that would allow you to take it sooner, like serious medical issues that are life threatening
In Aus for younger generations we dont have pensions, we have superannuation, which is a compulsory 12.5% salary deduction into an account which is then invested on your behalf. You generally cant opt out and you cant touch it until 65.
Rightly or wrong ive opted out of the UK pension since ive been here. Until recently I havent been reinvesting it either, which has been a poor decision on my behalf. Ive corrected that now.
@freedombill3 You might have lost the money but you learnt an important lesson for the rest of your life which you can pass to your own grandchildren one day
Καλημέρα GM! ☕️
Very inactive yesterday and it shows!
But the portfolio is still 🟢!
Had a truly wonderful day yesterday swimming off the coast of Kefalonia
Sadly it's my last day in Greece today, truly privileged to be able to have this time off
Have a great day all!
@BlackMambaMilli Oh wow really, is that in the GoalSaver?
At least that's one positive of the high interest rates back home aye, killing me on my mortgage though lol
Yeah man good to see another Aussie on here. Im in the Sydney where are you?
@2147mill As much as I can in the given month. Started at £150 as I was finding a rhythm and figuring out what worked for me, and now its more like £250-£400. Would eventually like to push it to £500 minimum as I see this as an optimum amount for me right now
How about you Tom?
