We haven't gotten customizable Avatar appearances in mainline Fire Emblem since Fates, though it does exist in FEH.

If you're dead set on having an avatar for self inserting, a customizable appearance does help strengthen that fantasy.

Rewatching the Direct. Loved basically everything except for Eshmel. It was a huge spoiler they did not need to do, there was already so much momentum going on without that stuff. It felt hammy and like they tried to match 3H's energy and didn't understand why that worked imho

Fire emblem is kind of like Zelda in where a new formula is introduced for the modern titles and basically becomes the future of the series, but unlike Zelda, I’d consider fire emblem’s modern design to be good (also we still get the classic FE formula mixed in here and there)
