The business case, in a nutshell.
A new oil pipeline to the coast could be declared in the national interest today. Fed & prov govt could then sort out how to make it feasible over the summer. Construction cld start Labour Day. That would be building at speeds not seen in a generation.
Can’t ship from NW BC because it’s untouched. Can’t ship from SW BC because it’s too touched.
Gonna be hard to build baby build, double non-US exports, be an energy superpower and expand Asian alliances if we keep deferring to the anti-development sentiments of the past decade.
@sjkelly1@nspector4 Dont think a strategic partnership with China was on the ballot in April 2025. I seem to remember them being our biggest threat was.
As bad as C-11, the CRTC’s implementation is somehow worse. Yesterday’s policy announcement will provoke a debate about the Online Streaming Act and the broader CanCon regime. But it really should lead to a bigger movement to disband the CRTC altogether. Spectrum licensing and other ongoing functions can be carried out by goverment departments. At this point the CRTC exists to finance its own expansion and growth and impose itself on the market preferences on Canadian consumers.
HAPPENING NOW: Eby renames Site C Damn after ex-Premier John Horgan. Horgan opposed the project, including being photographed in 2012 with a sign reading "Site C Sucks."
In the same tradition, I wonder if one day we will see a "David Eby pipeline" stretching across the province.
C-22 is looking like a huge mistake. It worries me a great deal. There is so much nonsense in there that It may well end up dealing a death blow to Canadian tech viability.
🪖 Canadian troops just helped lead a major NATO war game in Latvia… and got a harsh reality check.
Cheap drones & Russian jamming dominated. Canadian Sgt. admitted: “We’re behind the times.”
Days later, Russian drones hit a Latvian oil depot undetected.
Canada has 2,200 soldiers on that border. Our military is still playing catch-up in the drone war Ukraine is winning right now. Canada needs to provide our troops the kit they need for modern warfare yesterday.
Our troops deserve better from us. NATO’s drone gap starts with us waking up. 🇨🇦

If you read The Jerusalem Post you'll know that a pro-regime man from Richmond Hill, Ontario is charged with ramming his car into other vehicles at a Free Iran demonstration yesterday.
If you read the Toronto Star, you won't. https://t.co/eFhq1SnmqK
This is a federal matter but the Liberal government refuses to act.
USA tribes want to affect projects in Canada??!!
All the politics over the past ten years is catching up to Canada.
Deal with UNDRIP now or it’s going to get worse
Dave: “Hello, caller, you are on the air.”
Caller: “I don’t think billionaires create value.”
Dave: “Okay. What do you mean by that?”
Caller: “Nobody can earn a billion dollars ethically.”
Dave: “Alright. What do you do for a living?”
Caller: “Well, before this, I was a bartender.”
Dave: “Nothing wrong with bartending. Honest work.”
Caller: “Right.”
Dave: “And now?”
Caller: “I work in government.”
Dave: “Okay. So let me get this straight. You're saying Elon Musk, who helped build PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink, has made innovations like online payments, electric cars, rockets, and satellite internet possible, didn't earn his way to being a billionaire?"
Caller: “None of that justifies being a billionaire.”
Dave: “Well, sure sounds like value got created somewhere along the line.”
Caller: “I disagree.”
Dave: “What exactly did you build?”
Caller: “I advocate for economic justice.”
Dave: “No ma’am, I mean actual products.”
Caller: “…”
Dave: “You’re telling me the guy catching rockets mid-air created less value than a person who used to serve mojitos and now votes on spending his tax dollars?”
Caller: “That’s unfair.”
Dave: “What’s unfair is pretending markets are imaginary while cashing a government paycheck funded by the businesses you claim don’t create value.”
Caller: “I’m actually a congresswoman.”
Dave: “Oh Lord. Of course!"
During the Klondike Gold Rush, U.S. prospectors were met at the Canadian border by Mounties armed with a Maxim gun who wouldn't let them pass unless they were in possession of one tonne of provisions. It was an excellent way to keep the country free of scammers and freeloaders.
It's not 'racist' you silly man
It's culturalist
Some cultures are kinder and more humane than others
For example, cultures that do not allow female genital
mutilation, child marriage, stoning and beating of women and themurder of people who disagree with them...are superior to cultures that allow these barbaric behaviours
I’m not prone to radicalism but this type of ideological activism is precisely what has radicalized me on the judiciary. As long as left-wing judges feel no constraints on their constitution making, the fight over S.33 is arguably the most important in Canadian politics.
Drawing closer to Europe is a major blunder by Carney and an affront to the soul of Canada.
Canada is North American to its bones, much closer in culture to the USA than any other nation.
The Liberals have been hard at work for decades destroying Canadian identity, first through relentless propaganda, then mass immigration and now this schizophrenic pivot towards Europe.
Canada will never be European in character. By denying its North American heritage, it becoming a country of nothing. Just a cynical, transactional economic area.
