Hey @AnthropicAI -- up here in BC we have a govt that
1) actually has ethics,
2) values people's security,
Just saying,tes the tech sector,
(and all in a gorgeous place to live/play/do business)
Just saying. ;)
Seriously though: appreciate that doing good matters to you.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

Australia has barred social media from everyone under 16. The bill passed the Senate on Thursday (today, technically I guess) with bipartisan support. https://t.co/tVVnhBEQf2
California is ready to fight.
I just called an emergency special session to help bolster our legal resources and protect our state against any unlawful actions by the incoming Trump Administration.
Whether it be our fundamental civil rights, reproductive freedom, or climate action -- we refuse to turn back the clock and allow our values and laws to be attacked.

@ChrisWalkerCBC Well, after reading that, Chris, I couldn't not ask!
Though, full disclosure, I was potentially a little less chill than your ChatGPT guy on election day.
John McCain and I didn’t always agree, but he understood that some values transcended parties. He knew that if we got in the habit of bending the truth to suit political expediency or party orthodoxy, our democracy will not work.
John McCain had character. That’s what I think about so much these days because it’s so different from what we see out of the Republican nominee.

Dear British Columbians: Democracy thrives when we participate in it. 323 individuals have put their name forward to represent you by taking a seat in the #BCLeg Chamber. Tomorrow, on final voting day, please vote (if you haven't already). Visit @ElectionsBC for more info.
My message to billionaires who don’t want to chip in their fair share is: I’m not your guy.
My message to British Columbians is this: Let’s stick together.
Let’s work together to build a brighter future for everyone, not just those at the top.

@BlackwellMerlin It would have been great to hear your answers! I had a similar set today, with a group of students from schools in the Boundary (hosted in #GreenwoodBC). They ask the best questions. And it's my most rewarding engagement. I love it and it refills my cup.

Just unbelievable that John Rustad announced a "reproductive health" plan that doesn't mention abortion access or contraception. Not once.
Our rights are on the ballot this election.
Misinformation + lies cost us in both money + lives. It is not OK.
"X has also been fertile ground for threats of violence against FEMA" & "A broad collection" of "political and commercial interests ... coalesce around crises to further their agendas"

Check out the @BCNDP election platform 👇🏻 It's full of action to make B.C. more affordable and sustainable. If you're especially interested in #FoodSecurity and #Agriculture, go to page 26 🥔
John Rustad’s plan: tax breaks for the top 2%, while the rest of us get left with the bill. He apparently thinks trickle-down economics works better than the economic experts do. #OnBrand
An important watch: Rustad's star candidate Yuri Fulmer is openly pushing tax breaks for the top 2%.
The tax rate he's talking about here is the top bracket - everyone else in BC pays the lowest income taxes in Canada.
This is important for unpacking Rustad's agenda. 🧵
