Calling on @emilymkaplan, @realmikeWilbon, @tonykornheiser1, or ther ESPNers to highlight/honor Dick Roberge who died recently. He remains the record holder for minor league goals, was reportedly the inspiration for Paul Neuman's Slap Shot character (and was in the movie!).
@JayBilas@DrAlexUNC Exhibit #1: CU RB Sy'veon Wilkerson has been at 4 schools in 14 months, played at 3, has no degree, entered portal in April, transferred in June, yet he was given a waiver to play this year for the Buffs.
@JtCatCamino@PeteThamel Also, explain this: Tez played only at Kent St but can't play at UNC. RB Sy'Veon Wilkerson has been at 4 schools in 14 months, played at 3, has no degree, yet he was given a waiver to play this year for the Buffs...how is that fair and equitable treatment and following the rules?
@PeteThamel Tez has played only at Kent St, but denied by the NCAA. CU RB Sy'veon Wilkerson has been at 4 schools in 14 months, played at 3, has no degree, yet he was given a waiver to play this year for the Buffs...how is that fair and equitable treatment and following the rules?
@JtCatCamino@PeteThamel "...First-time transfers can play immediately, but two-time transfers have to meet certain criteria. Physical injuries or mental health conditions that necessitate a transfer are among the reasons the NCAA can choose to approve an eligibility waiver."
@JtCatCamino@PeteThamel From the Fayetteville Observer: "Walker enrolled at UNC on Jan. 9, according to UNC, and the NCAA changed its two-time transfer rules on Jan. 11. The NCAA Council shifted the rules with hopes of limiting mass waivers for two-time transfers..."
@JtCatCamino@PeteThamel 1. When the NCAA changed the rules they applied to Tez, he was already at UNC and attending classes. 2. The NCAA's "rules" are intended to stop all of the transfers and "school shopping," so how does it make sense that Tez cannot play and JT can? Tez has played ball for 1 team.
@Azjazzman21 @Brett_McMurphy Tez had transferred and established residency at UNC-Chapel Hill prior to the NCAA restricting transfer waiver requirements.
@Azjazzman21 @Brett_McMurphy They adopted/announced the new rules AFTER Tez transferred (in January 2023). He transferred under the old rules in good faith that he could play. The NCAA could rightfully enforce the rules if they were in effect before someone transferred--they shouldn't retroactively apply.
@katievrice Fix the reservation system for Rise of the Resistance, and fix the ride where it doesn't break down so much. It sucks to pay for the travel, tickets, etc. and maybe not even be able to get on it for the day you're there! 🤬
@AToastToTheHost 🤢🤮 Something for you to consider...Dean Smith was in the USAF and was an assistant BB coach & head golf coach at USAFA when it opened. At UNC, he took time to talk to UNC AFROTC cadets and sign memorabilia for the senior cadets. Reconsider your decision!
