When i was 12, i babysat also. 2 boys. Had a blast. $5 per hour might have been fine, but i think i got $10. Parents weren't home like you are. They were friends of my parents, only reason i had the job. I would have been home playing video games for no money, instead i had a great time with the boys making up stupid games and made a little cash.
Depending on how this young lady spends her free time at home, $5 per hour to mostly be on her phone or play with your baby is pretty good, especially compared to what she likely wants the money for. This is how kids learn the value of their time and work, and maybe some life skills also.
Today i walked into a Starbucks to pick up an order. I could see it wasn't ready. I sat down. A few minutes later i saw the two drinks set in the bagging area (UberEats). For the next 4 minutes, i just watched as 3 employees chatted with 1 male customer. Not doing their jobs, delaying mine, all while a supervisor sat next to me with another employee across a small table from her, and gave her a lecture that any nearby customers (including myself) could hear.
I just went to pick up donuts to surprise my son at work for his birthday.
I walked into the shop, and the kid behind the counter didn’t even acknowledge me. He turned his back and started chatting with another employee who didn’t acknowledge me either. I waited, then left and went two blocks down to the other donut shop, where I was greeted, asked how my day was, and she happily packed three dozen donuts for me.
Business owners, it’s so important to teach young staff good customer service because if you don’t, your competitors will.
I left the shop owner a message explaining what happened just so he’s aware he lost business today.
I’m not mad, I’m just busy.
If you're doing a face to face transaction with a stranger, I don't care if it's someone who is using a 90 year old grandma's picture, do at the police station in their parking lot. Parked close. If the buyer or seller rejects that idea, they were going to rob you and most likely kill you.
Since everyone hates stubhub and ticketmaster so much, INCLUDING the stars of these events (comedians, musicians, etc.), why can't the rich stars get together and fund a different way? Hire some coders with great backgrounds that can prove they know what they're doing, and make a different website with a much better system?
It will out-compete these horrible companies so fast they're bound to go under.
🚨 WARNING about StubHub 🚨 We purchased 4 FIFA World Cup tickets (France vs Senegal, MetLife Stadium June 16) for $2,189 back in December. Three days before the game, the seller "couldn't deliver." StubHub's so-called FanProtect Guarantee? When we clicked the link — ZERO replacement tickets available. The same seats are now listed at DOUBLE the price. Oh, and our $300 non-refundable parking pass? Gone. This is a deliberate bait-and-switch scheme and we're filing complaints with both the NJ and MD Attorney General. Do better @StubHub. #StubHub #FIFA #WorldCup #BaitAndSwitch #ConsumerFraud
Did anyone actually like Pepper Ann? It seemed to be on SO FREAKIN OFTEN and it was one of my least favorite cartoons as a kid (I was 11-14 when it was new). Theme song drove me crazy. Reruns for YEARS!
I stopped filling out the Uber Driver surveys they send out every once in awhile. Nothing i said mattered. No changes were implemented. Well, not NO changes, but most of the changes made the experience worse. The only good change i can think of is we are finally guaranteed to be paid what the order said when we accepted it (i don't think that's for ALL orders, but so far so good. Haven't been tip-baited since then).
What i think NEEDS to be implemented is a check-in for EVERY SINGLE BUSINESS that uses Uber delivery. No more showing up to a Burger King 7.5 miles away only to learn their opener didn't show up this morning so it'll be 15 minutes for the order to be ready. Your business will not get any orders until it's physically open and someone has pressed the button.
Is the "white knight" the male version of a "pick-me" girl?
I had this epiphany that i was probably a pick-me guy for a good portion of my life, and i think i may have whitr-knighted here and there also.
Not that they should have to do this, but it would be hilarious if the vehicles were sprayed with something foul smelling as they were leaving the facility so that all the "protesters" that touched the vehicle got the substance on their person.
🚨 JUST NOW: A rioter who JUMPED IN FRONT OF a civilian employee driving out of Delaney Hall in Newark LOST a game of chicken with the vehicle
Pure FAFO.
Diving in front of a convoy of fast moving government contracted vehicles is a GREAT way to spend domestic nights in the hospital.
Hope this was a lesson!
I'm not personally involved in any of these collectible/resellable things but it seems better to do a lotto style.
Every monday they'll have 1000 packs. 5000 people sign up for the lotto. 1 out of every 5 will get a pack, randomly, each week.
Show up within a certain time limit with your ID to prove it's you or it goes to the next person. Could even choose your time of day, like if you work an 8-5 you could choose 6pm, so it's not just the jobless or late workers that have a chance.
Apparently Target is changing the way they release Pokémon cards.
No more standing in long lines outside the store. Now you check in with your phone number and wait for a text when it’s your turn to buy.
Honestly this might actually give regular people a better shot at getting product instead of the same people camping every restock for hours.
Not perfect, but probably better than the chaos we’ve been seeing lately.
What do you guys think? Better system or nah?
Bro, this is one of the biggest reasons Japan’s birth rate keeps collapsing.
A young Japanese guy working full-time is only taking home around 130,000–140,000 yen a month, while still paying off student loans.
With that kind of money, getting married and having kids isn’t just “difficult” — it feels impossible for a lot of people.
Meanwhile, the government keeps expanding support and subsidies for foreign workers, covering part of their wages and making it easier for companies to hire them.
So we have a situation where young Japanese people are struggling to even survive, yet the system is more focused on bringing in and supporting foreign labor.
If the government has money and energy to help foreigners settle and work here, shouldn’t they at least make sure young Japanese people can afford to have children first?
This isn’t about hating foreigners. It’s about priorities being completely backwards.
Thank you for resolving this matter as it should have been.
It shouldn't take making a post on X to get paid for a delivery.
Your base support team through the App should have fixed it.
But, thank you none the less for finally resolving it.
Born in '86. Get home from school, want to go out to play with friends. Call # for parent's work, tried to alternate which parent to not bug one more than the other, or not bug 1 secretary more than the other. Tell them where and they tell me when to be home.
They were either working, or at home watching tv, making dinner, enjoying a childless house for a couple hours.
