Not much can be said about bigs like Christian Gurdak and Dorin Buca, as Rutgers has lacked any other significant center transfers to create insights about. Regardless, I still believe that Christian Gurdak will prove to be the most effective transfer of them all.
For wings like Darin Smith Jr. and Will Sydnor who have had defensive struggles in the past, marginal improvements can be expected. We may also see improved shooting percentages for each of them in revamped roles, taking more selective shots.
Conclusion:
Dylan and Ace didn't fail Rutgers, Rutgers failed Dylan and Ace. The athletic department, the coaching staff, the roster, and plain bad luck are all to blame. This was a season that was supposed to be special, but instead ended in unforgettable disaster.
5. Harper Illiness/Injury
Mid-way through the season, Dylan Harper caught the Flu, making him miss 1 game and play through illness for 2 more games. Later that month, he injured his ankle against Penn St, and missed the next 3 games. Rutgers went 1-6 in this stretch without him.
