@puckandrally the argument was Babcock isn’t going to be a good coach because he hasn’t won since 08. Not that I don’t think torts hasn’t done anything (was the term the op used) but he isn’t won since 04 and he has Vegas about to win a cup with him in charge for 2 months
@Madi39 look, everything you said is true. However Campbell sucked when he was here (from a hockey standpoint), Babcock (yes he’s a dickhead) but if he comes in and wins they who cares? the entire organization would be ecstatic. If he doesn’t win he’s a dick who the fans rightfully hate
@Robbiej34@Sports1440@OilersNation@FountainTire you say that now, but what if the oilers hoist the cup next year? Would you change your mind? Because every single year payer on the team would be elated. I would be. Winning solves all problems. it’s easy to say he’s not worth it now
@looseleaf_ca@JeffTetz 12th all time in wins by a head coach, 3rd fastest to 700. And the greatest international coach of the the nhl -iihf era goes a long way
@looseleaf_ca@JeffTetz 2 Olympic golds , World Cup of hockey gold says otherwise. 2014 and 2015 wings were terrible and had no business winning anything (and the fact they haven’t made it since proved that) Toronto hasn’t either won 2 in layoff series in 20 years, again not on him.
@adashky@FrancisMar86314@nielsonTSN1260 you mean the game 7 that Marleau had 2 goals and Matthews has goose eggs across the board? probably the right call in the moment. not his fault his goalie let in 3 on 7 in the 3rd to lose.
@Teddy3838123@bcurlock if you whole heartedly think this is a terrible decision, then you really don’t care enough about the oilers winning. you care about Babcock is a dickhead, but who cares that he’s a dickhead if he wins? the oilers need a firm coach on the bench. If he wins all is forgotten
@JonathanWillis To be fair - there’s absolutely no accountability from the core 4 in Toronto. Especially with how Marner left last season, and is now painting it as it was dark times in Toronto , seems like Babcock needed to treat him even tougher.
