In PSHE today we have discussed choices when spending money. We have also thought about value of money and what to consider when buying. In groups, the children ordered offers from best to work and explained their reasons.
This afternoon we started our first computing unit ’Spreadsheets’ using Microsoft Excel. We have practised reading the rows and columns to find specific cells and how to enter data. 💻
Our first History topic for Year 6 is called, 'Maafa'. It focuses on the horrors of the Atlantic Slave Trade. We look at how slavery began and developed to the point where millions of innocent, free Africans were forced to live a life of despair and misery.
We had a lovely time on Friday at Safety Works learning about all different types of safety, these included water safety, road safety, peer pressure, anti social behaviour and mental well being. @Year6MrsShaw
We are absolutely loving our English text, Groosham Grange. Anthony Horowitz has written a scary yet funny story that leaves us wanting to read more and more! The children used Popplet to summarise some of the strange events that have occurred so far.
Year 6 have been learning two methods to multiply by 2 digit numbers. The first method is long multiplication. The second method we looked at uses factors which means they complete two short multiplication methods to find the answer. Mrs Shaw prefers this method :-)
We've now moved onto division using factors to avoid having to use a long division strategy. Unfortunately, this method can't always be used as it only works with multiples of two 1 digit numbers and also if there is no remainder. When it does work, it's super quick and effective
A huge thank you to @Booktrust for sending us free copies of the fascinating book ‘Am I Made Of Stardust?’ The children are so excited to get reading! They have arrived in perfect time as we have just started our Earth and Space Science topic! 🌍 ⭐️ 🚀 🌙
We had a lovely morning at the church yesterday. We took part in an interactive version of the Easter Story before creating an Easter garden. The children were so respectful, I’m very proud of them. 😊⭐️
