We have had an absolute treat today! The History bloke has been in and has taught us all about Romans. We have had lots and lots of fun and learnt lots of new facts and looked at loads of different artefacts.
We’ve had a lovely day at Washington Wetlands! We enjoyed learning about different types of plants and birds, as well as pond dipping and making a colour palette. We also had some time in the playground too where everyone loved letting off some steam!
What a fantastic day celebrating Gateshead’s torch relay linked to the Paris Olympics! The day was filled with Olympic and torch bearer-based activities, ending in a whole school parade!
In Science, we finished off our sun safety posters and then presented them to the rest of the class. We are now experts on why the sun is dangerous, when it is the most dangerous, what can it cause and how you can keep yourself safe. Have a look at our fabulous posters!
Some of us have had a lovely morning playing basketball and practising our touch typing skills whilst the others were out at Lord Lawson playing football.
Today, some children went to Lord Lawson to take part in a football competition. The children had a range of fun games linked to football skills and had a chance to take part in each activity and practise those skills. They had lots of fun and were great representatives of RTPS.
In DT, we have been practising our skills to make a bell beaker pot. We practised rolling coils, making slip, joining clay and making a pinch pot. Now we’re ready to make our pot this afternoon!
In PE, we have been using everything we have learnt about dancing to an 8 count beat to create our own dance about a trip we have went on. We tried to be synchronised and keep to the beat. Afterwards, we had to guess the trips we went on.
During PE today, we created a dance routine to show where we were going on a trip either in outer space, a forest, the mountains or under the sea. We created a routine of 24 beats and tried to be as synchronised as we could. Here are some videos of our performance.
We had another 2 visitors today from Gateshead library. We listened to a lovely story called ‘Whisper, Shout! Let it out!’ This was perfectly linked to this week’s theme ‘My Voice’ and we helped read the story. We then listened to ‘The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse’.
We had such a treat this afternoon. Chris Connaughton, an author, came to Year 3 and told the Greek myth ‘Percius and the gorgans’ in his own fantastic, engaging way. He had us all smiling and laughing for the full hour. ☺️
We were learning all about show not tell feelings (SNOT!) in English today. We sorted cards that had some ‘snot’ on them and matched them to the correct emotion.
This afternoon, children worked in groups and used playdough to create the Earth’s layers. They labelled each layer and then wrote some facts that they had learnt about the Earth’s crust, mantle, outer core and inner core.
We had a fantastic afternoon investigating the properties of different rock samples! We used hand lenses to observe them closely and tested their permeability using pipettes.
