My phone just pinged me with an “on this day” memory from this day three years ago on 9/20/23.

We were in Eagle Pass, TX and witnessed a mass illegal crossing of more than 4,000 illegal aliens crossing in one single spot in just two hours, leading to CBP having to shut down the nearby international bridges & ports of entry.

@FoxNews was the only network there.

The only resistance offered was Texas military & DPS assets which had placed razor wire at the edge of the river, but the Biden Border Patrol cut through it and in one infamous case, even used heavy machinery to lift it out of the way so the illegal aliens could proceed into the U.S.

A complete free for all that day - and it would get even worse three months later in December 2023 when the illegal crossings reached the highest ever recorded in U.S. history with more than 11,000 in a single day.

They will cover a protest in a minute. They will not cover a dead American if it makes open borders look guilty.

Just to be clear, this animal was let across the border by Joe Biden, came to New York where he sexually assaulted a minor, was released thanks to our sanctuary and decarceration policies, and made his way to Maryland where he raped ANOTHER minor while working as an cab driver.

James 1:12:

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

We are going to explore a topic I believe is eroding our cultural cohesiveness.  What am I talking about you may ask?  The malignant cloak of “fabricated victimhood” has unfortunately penetrated innumerable tentacles of our society with absolutely devastating results.  Our scripture break today and tomorrow will painstakingly dissect the cultural phenomenon of “fabricated victimhood."

Let’s begin by categorically stating this is not about genuine victims of other people's ghastly behavior and choices.  Being a true victim of crime, violence, manipulation, or poor behavior by others, etc. does warrant our compassion, assistance, and support. We aren’t talking about that.

Every Christian has an obligation to develop the skillsets to accurately identify this poisonous ideology and undermine it within your circle of influence. What I have found studying the Bible all these years is not only is it important to know what true Christian living looks like BUT ALSO what evil looks like.  Here’s what is happening. Satan is just repackaging the same evil thinking over and over  (Eccl 1:9) - new phrases like “my truth,” “I decide my truth,” “there is no such thing as objective truth, only my truth” are simple examples of this concerted effort to attack righteousness. So this latest iteration is centered around “fabricated victimhood.”  By manipulating the compassionate hearts and minds of many Americans, there are people who purposely conjure up scams to extract what they want playing the “victimhood card.”

Here’s the formula.

Step one, take a clearly non-offensive circumstance and loudly proclaim offense.

Step two, dress up this horrid offense in new fangled language with descriptors signaling one meaning but reflecting another reality.

Step three, manipulate non-suspecting individuals into “assuming the guilt of the alleged offense themselves.” By doing so, the perpetrator has weaponized the values and beliefs of the innocent non-suspecting against themselves.

Sound familiar?

Why do people use the victimhood card to get their own way?  Well, it is effective in our culture because people convince themselves “we are good people - see how compassionate I am, etc.” Compassionate Americans don’t want others to suffer and will help if they can.   Succinctly stated, “fabricated victimhood” gives the perpetrator the excuse to remain completely focused on themselves and simultaneously manipulating others into directing all of their energies towards the needs of the perpetrator.

What are the pillars of “fabricated victimhood”?  Here are a few listed below but the list isn’t comprehensive.

1. Fabricated victimhood is deeply anchored in pride (self-pity).
2. The perpetrator never takes responsibility for their own failures, ineptness, or poor choices.
3. The perpetrator manipulates others to get what they want because other people only exist for their needs.
4. Lying and deception are only just instruments of the process of expressing “your truth."
5. The perpetrator decides the definition of truth and willingly propagates a false narrative to benefit themselves.
6. The perpetrator embraces a delusional perspective that world is arrayed against him or her to facilitate their failure and they are powerless to overcome it.

There are other characteristics of this ideology. Please explore the topic at your convenience.

So how do we resist this dangerous mentality? First, it is so important for Christians to renew their minds and hearts of Who they serve. The Christian worldview is our steadfast anchor.  Secondly, while I selected these verses below there are many others we could review.  As we have discussed in the past, begin with the answer and work backward.

1. II Timothy 1:7 - "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

2. I Thessalonians 5:16-18 - "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

3. Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

4. James 1:2-4 - "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

5. John 16:33 - "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

6. Ephesians 6:10 - "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”

7. I Corinthians 15:57 - “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

8. Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”

9. Proverbs 3:5 - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

10. II Corinthians 4:17 - "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

11. Psalm 28:7 - “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him."

12. Psalm 7:17 - "I will give thanks to the Lord because of His righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High."

These verses paint an accurate portrayal of a strong, grounded Christian living a Godly life - these verses provide a sound foundation for how the Christian should engage the world. Now, let's recall the pillars of a "fabricated victimhood" which are italicized below and how a Christian would counter act each pillar statement (bolded).

1. Fabricated victimhood is deeply anchored in pride (self-pity). The Christian worldview is deeply anchored in God’s Word, righteousness and mercy.

2. The perpetrator never takes responsibility for their own failures, ineptness, or poor choices. The Christian confesses their sin and seeks to be obedient to God’s Word.

3. The perpetrator manipulates others to get what they want because other people exist for their needs. The Christian serves God and others.

4. Lying and deception are just instruments of the process of expressing “your truth.” The Christian avoids sin - such as lying and deception.

5. The perpetrator decides their definition of truth and willingly propagates a false narrative to benefit themselves. Jesus is the Way, the truth, and the light.

6. The perpetrator embraces a delusional perspective that world is arrayed against them to facilitate their failure and they are powerless to overcome it. Jesus told us be of good cheer for "I have overcome the world.”
