“I slowly learned not to trust in myself, my faith,or my feelings, but to trust in Him. It was vital to remain anchored to His Word when my thoughts fought to lead me astray. I hungered for the truths of His Word.” Corrie ten Boom
And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
Many have asked how they can help the Baucham family. I have spent time with them today and Bridget is full of faith as she grieves Voddie’s death. A fund has been established to help care for their family in the years ahead. Consider giving to help.

We are saddened to inform friends that our dear brother, Voddie Baucham, Jr., has left the land of the dying and entered the land of the living. Earlier today, after suffering an emergency medical incident, he entered into his rest and the immediate presence of the Savior whom he loved, trusted, and served since he was converted as a college student. Please pray for Bridget, their children, and grandchildren.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. – Psalm 116:15

"The gospel in four words is 'Jesus took my place;' in three words, it's 'Him for me;' in two words, it's 'substitutionary atonement;' in one word, it's 'grace'." -Charlie Kirk.
In James 5:13-18 he is going to give us some great instructions and some wonderful promises about prayer. He begins by saying prayer should be our first response to any problems we face. If there’s a difficulty or issue confronting us we should pray. Ask God for guidance. Ask Him for help. Ask Him for relief.
But we can’t just pray when we need something. James says that when we’re happy we should pray singing praises to God for his goodness. If you’re a parent you understand this. We don’t want to only hear from our kids when they need something-we want to have conversations all the time.
Then James talks specifically about illnesses. He says if you’re sick you should not only pray but have others in the church pray for you. God will hear those prayers and heal us physically. But more than that, James promises us that our earnest prayers will be heard by God and He will heal us spiritually. He’ll forgive our sins—and that’s a great promise.
James 5:16 is a powerful verse and one we should remember.
“The fervent prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective.”
Then he gives an example of an amazing prayer by Elijah. He prayed for a drought and it didn’t rain for 3 1/2 years. Then he prayed for rain and God sent a downpour.
Elijah was praying as God’s representative for something that God wanted to use to demonstrate His power and sovereignty to the people. James says we have the same connection to God that Elijah had. We have a great weapon at our disposal—prayer! We just have to use it.
Pete Rose has died at the age of 83. I don't deviate from reporting on Congress very often on this platform. But I grew up as a Cincinnati Reds fan. Was at Riverfront Stadium the night he broke Ty Cobb's all-time hit record. Later covered his banishment from the game as a reporter for WKRC-AM in 1989. Rose was always my favorite player because he worked harder than anyone on the field. Only fitting that I learned of Pete's death just seconds after the Braves defeated the Mets for the final out of the regular season. That was Pete. Always there for all 162 games.
