🐐 *Faith, fear, and the sacrifice of the innocent*
Nepal’s Gadhimai festival is regarded as one of the largest animal-sacrifice events in the world. Held every five years, this festival sees a huge number of devotees offering animals in sacrifice, believing it will bring prosperity, protection, or the fulfillment of their wishes.
📊 According to animal welfare organizations, *hundreds of thousands of animals have been sacrificed* during this event in past years. Because of awareness and protest campaigns the numbers have somewhat reduced, yet large-scale animal slaughter still remains a central feature of the festival.
🐄 Before the 2024 event, animal-rights activists from India and Nepal ran campaigns against this practice. Authorities and volunteers tried to stop the illegal transport of animals and managed to rescue many of them.
🌍 This issue has sparked wide-ranging discussions on animal welfare, religious traditions, and moral responsibility.
When a tradition leads to the suffering and death of millions of animals, can its mere antiquity and popularity be enough to justify it?
*🌟 AP Framework's Take:*
🐐 For years, the Gadhimai festival has been associated with the sacrifice of countless animals. Violence on such a massive scale raises a deep question: can any culture truly be humane if its roots do not lie in real dharma?
🎯 Culture, traditions, and customs do not become valuable just because they are old or long-standing. Culture has value only when it is grounded in dharma.
When dharma is absent, culture can turn into a vehicle of ignorance, fear, and violence. A practice may continue for centuries and still remain far removed from the truth.
📿 In the name of faith, people may believe that offering sacrifices will bring prosperity, protection, or divine grace. But this is essentially an expression of fear and desire. The ego wants favorable outcomes for itself and looks for means to secure them.
Spirituality is not a transaction. Trying to gain personal benefit by offering up another life cannot be called spirituality.
🔄 The ego says: “I want security.” “I want success.” “I want protection from uncertainty.”
And when these desires are dressed up in religious language, even violence begins to appear acceptable.
🕊️ Advaita negates duality. The same one consciousness is expressing itself in the countless forms of life. When this understanding is absent, living beings are reduced to instruments for fulfilling human desires.
🐄 The animal is no longer seen as a sentient being, capable of experiencing fear and pain. It is reduced merely to a means to an end.
⚠️ This is why real dharma must be the foundation of culture. Without dharma, even religious traditions can become instruments of cruelty.
🌿 So the real question is not how old, popular, or culturally significant a ritual is. The real question is: has it arisen from truth and understanding, or from fear, desire, and ignorance?
Only a culture based on real dharma can move towards non-violence. Otherwise, tradition itself becomes a justification for violence.

*NFHS-6 Report: Progress Alongside Rising Health Challenges*
📊 The National Family Health Survey (NFHS) is a large-scale household survey in India that tracks indicators related to health, nutrition, and population. It is conducted by the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The NFHS-6 survey was carried out in 2023–24 across all states and Union Territories, covering millions of households. Its findings provide foundational data for policies on health, nutrition, maternal and child welfare, and population.
📉 According to NFHS-6 (2023–24), India has made significant progress in child health. Stunting among children has declined by 17%, and severe wasting has reduced by 32%. Institutional deliveries have crossed 90%, and full immunization coverage among children aged 12–23 months has gone beyond 87%.
📊 The same survey, however, points to a double burden. Obesity has risen rapidly; the proportion of men with obesity has increased from 22.9% to 27.3%, and among women from 24% to 30.7%. Most worrying is that the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in the first six months has dropped from 63.7% in NFHS-5 to just 55.8% in NFHS-6.
📉 Along with this primary bedrock of evidence-based policies, data from the Sample Registration System (SRS) and National Health Accounts also show that there is still a severe lack of policy focus and resources allocated to metabolic disorders and lifestyle-related diseases.
🏥 In the Global Hunger Index, India ranks 102nd among more than 123 countries and, with a score of 25.8, falls into the “serious” category. Child mortality has improved, but the rate of child wasting (low weight for height) is the highest in the world. On the other hand, in The Lancet’s health-care quality index, India ranks between 140th and 145th. Despite improvements in basic health infrastructure, the growing spread of non-communicable diseases like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease has become a “double public health burden” for India.
*✨ AP Framework’s Take*
NFHS-6 puts forth an uncomfortable truth: the very generation that was saved from hunger is now moving towards obesity. Stunting has reduced, but obesity has increased. This is not just a policy failure; it is the failure of a fundamental mindset that manages to change outer conditions while leaving the inner center untouched.
According to the AP Framework, the ego does not merely contain incompleteness; the ego itself is incompleteness. That which is intrinsically incomplete can never be fulfilled by any external object or consumption. When there was material scarcity in society, food became a “project” and a “need.” Once food became easily available, the same old inner restlessness turned into over-consumption, and we started calling it “progress.” The object changed, but the inner consumer, the inner operator, did not.
Achievements like immunization and institutional deliveries are real and worthy of appreciation. On the horizontal plane of life, this kind of material progress is necessary. But no horizontal movement can grant a human being inner or vertical freedom.
Now comes a realistic question that you will not find in any NFHS table: what we are eating today—is it to satisfy physical hunger, or is it a blind attempt to fill that inner void which never actually gets filled? Without right self-observation and awareness, every new policy will remain nothing more than a new address for the same old mental restlessness.

Yesterday, in the middle of a program in the UK, we asked Acharya Ji,
"Acharya Ji, many people are saying that you will be staying in the UK for so long. 'We are really missing you. How will we stay away from you for so many days?'"

I have two daughters. One is doing her graduation from Hyderabad and the other has just passed her intermediate exam.
Before connecting with Acharya Ji, I too believed that as soon as a girl’s education is completed, she should be married off on time so that there are no obstacles in her marriage later. And even while she is studying, she should be watched in such a way that she is not able to get into any physical relationship with anyone.
This is a Manuvadi way of thinking; I didn’t even know that, but I had absorbed it from the air around me.
After coming to Acharya Ji, this belief dropped. Instead of having my elder daughter do her graduation close to home, I sent her away to Hyderabad. My parents, relatives, and my wife strongly opposed this, but ignoring all of them I eventually managed to send her to Hyderabad.
Now when it was my second daughter’s turn, the family opposed it even more strongly. They said: one girl has already gone far from home, if the second also goes, how will their mother stay alone at home? And studying away from home will also cost more money, where will that money come from? How will you get them married then? These are the questions my parents, my brothers and relatives, and my wife kept asking me again and again.
Ignoring all their objections, I told them: the money I was saving to spend on their weddings, I will instead spend on their education. After that, I will leave the decision to them—when they want to marry, whom they want to marry, and whether they want to marry at all or not.
There was a lot of resistance to what I said, but in the end everyone agreed that my younger daughter will also go to Hyderabad, and I have already spoken to get her admitted into a good college there.

*💭 Topic — Psychology*
*──────────*
*👶 Oedipus Complex: The insistence on comfort and attachment to the familiar 🤱*
In psychoanalysis, the ‘Oedipus Complex’ proposed by Sigmund Freud is one of the most discussed theories. Psychological research and authentic journals (such as studies in *The International Journal of Psychoanalysis*) do not restrict it only to child sexuality. In modern psychology, it reflects the infant’s deep inner conflict, where the child wants complete bonding or fusion with the primary caregiver (usually the mother).
For the infant, the mother is not just a person; she is the child’s entire world and total safety. The child wants to have a monopoly over this ‘safe zone’. When a third’ person (the father or the external world) enters this relationship, the child feels its security being snatched away. This gives rise to insecurity and rivalry. This is a human being’s first psychological struggle of stepping out of the ‘comfort bubble’ and confronting the rules of the ‘real world’.
*🌟 AP Framework’s Take:*
*The search for a psychological womb:* This is not just a description of one stage of childhood; it is a precise depiction of the most fundamental tendency of our ‘I’ (ego). Our body grows up, but our ego spends its whole life searching for a ‘psychological womb’.
*Clinging to the familiar*
The ego is always afraid of harsh truth and the unknown. It wants something that is already known and recognizable, where there is no challenge, where it is made to feel safe without any conditions. The Oedipus Complex is, in essence, the ego’s stubborn insistence on clinging to this same ‘biological and psychological setup’.
Even when we grow up, in our romantic relationships, friendships, or even at the workplace, we go on searching for the same ‘mother’ or ‘father’—a person or environment that tolerates everything about us, places no real demands on us, and gives us a sense of complete safety.
*Rejection of the ‘Third’*
Just as the child sees the father as a ‘disturbance’ that interferes with its comfort, our ego too considers every truth or challenge that breaks our comfortable illusions as an enemy. We do not reject the truth because it is wrong; we reject it because it forces us to part ways with our old, familiar beliefs.
*👁️ Seeing and intent*
We have actually never grown out of this complex. It is a matter of catching our own tendencies red-handed in daily life.
When in any relationship we feel ourselves becoming excessively dependent or we are flooded with deep insecurity when someone even slightly distances themselves from us, we can pause and see: “Am I trying to find some old, familiar support in this person? Am I actually using this person as a protective ‘shield’ just to avoid life’s uncertainty (the unknown)?”
Merely knowing this psychological structure intellectually is not enough. The real blow lands when we catch red-handed that this very ‘craving for security’ is what is making me weak and parasitic. This direct confrontation itself becomes the ‘intent’—the point where a person gathers the courage to step out of that ‘comfortable psychological womb’.

*You are not your khakis. But you are not Tyler Durden either.*
🎬 *THE FILM: Fight Club*
_David Fincher's Fight Club (1999) follows a nameless narrator an insomniac IKEA-catalogue executive who has built an entire life out of borrowed objects and borrowed meaning. He cannot sleep. He cannot feel. He attends support groups for diseases he does not have because manufactured grief is the only thing that makes him present._
👉 Then he meets Tyler Durden - charismatic, fearless, unburdened by anything the narrator clings to. Together they build fight clubs: underground spaces where men beat each other bloody and, for a few minutes, feel real. Fight clubs become "Project Mayhem" - an anarchist movement to demolish the financial system and erase consumer debt. Bombs are planted. Buildings are targeted.
👉 Then the twist: *Tyler was never real. He is the narrator's own alter-ego - a second self manufactured in sleep to do everything the waking self could not. Every act of destruction was the narrator's own.*
The film has a thesis. It argues that consumer identity has hollowed men out, that violence restores authenticity, and that the willingness to destroy is closer to freedom than anything the modern world offers. Fight Club presents Tyler not as a symptom but as a solution. That is precisely where the framework disagrees.
_____________________
🌟 *AP FRAMEWORK'S TAKE*
The ego is not a thing that has incompleteness. The ego is incompleteness. This is the foundational claim - and it is what the film gets exactly wrong.📌
The narrator sees his falseness with unusual clarity. The job is hollow. The apartment is scaffolding. The consumer identity - "I am my sofa, my coffee table, my carefully curated lifestyle" - is borrowed from cover to cover. This seeing is real.
But the film's error, and the narrator's, is assuming that the incompleteness can be solved. That if the borrowed identity is wrong, a better identity will fill the gap. So "I am a consumer" becomes "I am Tyler." The ego has not dissolved. It has rebranded. The same structure - I am X - now wears a leather jacket and a philosophy of destruction.
This is why Tyler is not liberation. He is the ego's self-dissolution drive appropriated by the ego itself. The drive toward freedom - which every ego carries alongside its drive toward self-preservation - gets hijacked and turned into a project.
The ending is read as redemption. The narrator shoots Tyler, eliminates the manufactured other, and returns to a single ego standing upright in the rubble. It is self-preservation in costume. Nothing inside has changed. He is still the same claimant - still incomplete, still reaching, now just reaching toward a woman and a collapsed skyline instead of a catalogue.
Freedom, in this framework, is not a state the ego arrives at. It is not Tyler's world without debt or the narrator's world without Tyler. It is an absence - the temporary falling away of the one who was performing, reached for, and defended. It cannot be built. It can only be what remains when the construction momentarily stops.
📍 Real intent would look nothing like this. No alter-ego. No fight clubs. No detonators. Just the narrator sitting with his incompleteness - not solving it, not rebranding it, not manufacturing a freer version of himself to act it out. Seeing the reach as it rises. Choosing, in that ordinary moment, not to follow it. Not once. Continuously.
*The narrator did not need a fight club. He needed a mirror. He built a god instead*

Mother's Day Special: ‘The Marriage we Settled for’
------
“The mother being honoured today is the first person her children watched accept the settlement. The daughter who watched her mother’s labour go unnamed, unthanked, and unquestioned did not even consider that cooking may be a form of oppression. She learned something subtler and more durable: that this is what care looks like, that devotion does exactly this, and that a settlement accepted without complaint and carried with grace passes, in most households, for love itself.”
