Last day for tweeting made me want to tweet. I was gripped by this crippling bias WYSIATI (gullible me), but now with awareness I scratch the surface, look beyond what meets the eye, ask more questions to make a balanced decision #DESMDM
#DESMDM Would love to work for an organisation where I could choose my designation. What designation will I pick?? Hmmm.. Lets see.. Chief Happiness Officer or a quirky Badass Boss Lady.
#DESMDM The complex human mind chooses want over should, time after time. In this world of instant coffee (gratification) why wait for delayed gratification of roasting, grinding and brewing coffee. Such is life I say..
Creating a sense of urgency is essential not just when you are driving a change but also when you are trying to motivate the teams to reach for their targets. It sets the pace and creates the right energy and a sense of emergency to achieve the desired results. #DESMDM
#DESMDM Change management made easy by Dr. John Kotter, 8 easy breezy steps to make the desired changes in any organisation. All leaders I have had the fortune to work with intuitively knew how to create an army of champions to lead a change.
#DESMDM Change is often the most needed and most dreaded of all things we do. Old ways are comfortable but makes us complacent and puts us behind the curve, change on the other hand is inconvenient but rewarding.
#DESMDM armed and equipped with my new understanding of biases, i see biases of all kinds in all my transactions. There is a paradigm shift in my world view and self awareness.
#DESMDM As compassionate, sensitive and decisive a leader as I believed I was, today’s report reveals there is work to be done. Each leader is a Work in Progress. Keep at it.
#DESMDM Motivated teams - every leader’s desire, Agile leaders - every organisation’s desire. Solution - EPO equation, zoom in and see what needs fixing.
#DESMDM Quitting is a bad word, you get stigmatized for it. Walking away or leaving a project midway is considered unheroic - this could be a genesis of escalation to commitment bias..
#DESMDM Experience tells me that before giving a negative feedback, the manager must acknowledge the team member's positive contributions. It makes them less defensive, more receptive and open to the feedback. Finish with feedforward.
#DESMDM I believed that I was a perfectly rational being until the last MOLC class which opened my eyes to escalation to commitment bias, which I unwittingly suffer from. I am beginning to see it as a function of ego which I will be conscious of from now on.
The credit for this Twitter account opening goes to the most vibrant, fun and energetic professor in the whole world @sreedhari_desai. I never thought I will join Twitter but as they say, never say never.
Thank you, today's class was super fun.
