In May, the pupils of Primary School Dr. Hernâni Cidade (Redondo, PT) learned about migratory fish ecology by playing the DiadSea card game 🎲🃏🌊

Great work done by PhD student @rtpalmeida@sibic2024 describing the occurrence of sea bass adults in Tagus river 150km upstream in freshwater environments. Glad that we could participate. @MAREscience check out our paper "Not so much a sea bass" at Journal of Fish Biology
A fish day of commercial fishermen in Natural Park of International Tagus. The invasive European catfish (Silurus glanis) is one the largest catches with carp (Cyprinus carpio) - also invasive. In 5 days they harvest almost 2 metric tons of catfish! #lifepredator@MAREscience
It's official! The DiadSea project has started!
With a duration of three years, DiadSea addresses the challenges faced by diadromous fish, promoting sustainability in the marine world and for local communities.

3️⃣rd and last day of our KoM in France!
Today the discussion was about the seal of origin and Work Package 5, which is dedicated to Communication!
💥DiadSea partners are all motivated to continue working for the success of the project!

DAY 2 of the DiadSea KoM🐟Today, the beneficiary partners are meeting to discuss Work Packages:
1️⃣ Biological Data Collection
2️⃣ Innovative Methods to fill Gaps in Data-poor Species
3️⃣ Assessment of Priority Areas for Conservation

1️⃣st day of DiadSea presential Kick of Meeting
Stakeholders session with a debate on a transnational observatory and the creation of a seal of origin for the valorization and conservation of diadromous fishes.

Congrats to @MafaldaMoncada for concluding her master thesis! She found high predation frequency of occurrence on European eel, barbel, shads and mullets in the lower Tagus. @MAREscience#megapredator
Any fish #elvers#eels caught on the river Severn from now on will go for restocking Uk rivers we care about our fishery and are fighting to keep it open
⚠⚠️ Innovasea has moved to encrypt their coding schemes to ensure that their tags can only be detected by their receivers. Imagine if Apple decided that iPhone users could only call other iPhone users? You could no longer call your friend who owns an Android. Important thread 👇
In the #WFC2024 session on improving the conservation of diadromous species, we presented the challenges we face and the solutions we have found to achieve a multilateral and international assessment for the eel in #SUDOANGproject
The sea lamprey gathered scientists, fishers, public administration and the authorities to discuss why lamprey is disappearing from our rivers. A symposium organized by the sea lamprey Brotherhood, Penacova Municipality and @MAREscience@univdeevora. DiadSea tasks were discussed.
Another year, another MARE presence at the biggest sports fishing event in Portugal! Three days of interesting knowledge exchange between scientists and anglers!
