〝 I know what you mean —— I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my wife. 〞
Given Daisy's tendency to leap into danger and therefore Jemma's need to patch her up, she'd have died without her.
〝 I'm glad I didn't bump into while you were in some kind of hurry, then. 〞
Yet another thing Val is thankful for.
“Bucky’s my everything. I wouldn’t be here without him.” Mostly because The Soldier personality would have murdered her...
“It’s fine, really~. I was just heading home. I have time.”
The shift in the other's tone doesn't go unnoticed, but Daisy doesn't comment on it either.
〝 It's good you have him, then. . and— oh, uh. . I'm sorry for asking questions! I just get curious, is all. 〞
She won’t voice it, but Valentina is VERY grateful for that.
And suddenly, her voice turns slightly cold, but not /at/ Daisy.
“I used to have horrible paranoia about it. My husband was the only one who could calm me down when I would start to panic.”
Daisy is a fangirl, but not THAT much of a fangirl. Besides, she was beginning to know all too well what it was like.
〝 I wouldn't know, really, 〞she hums, arms lightly folding. 〝 Does it ever intimidate you? Knowing your name is out there? 〞
Well . . . at least this one let her hand go, and isn’t literally screaming.
“You’d think it would get easier with time, but it really doesn’t.” Sipping her coffee, Val shook her head slightly.
“But it’s not /all/ horrible, at least.”
〝 I /do/ know you! 〞
There's a light bounce as she releases the other's hands —— despite it all, it seems she's managed to keep aliver her inner fangirl.
〝 Sorry, it's probably weird, huh? Being recognized and all that jazz. 〞
As she shook her hand, the undeniable flash of recognition appeared in her eyes, and a low sigh was quick to follow barely beneath her breath.
She missed the quiet days.
“Valentina Barnes, though you might know me as Sergeant Star.”
She /still/ hates that name.
〝 Daisy Simmons-Johnson. 〞
Her hand extends to shake the others, though a fleeting hint of recognition flashes behind umber irises.
〝 Hold on —— /who/?〞
“Briefings are important.”
Holding her free hand out, she smiles at the other woman. She just hopes she doesn’t recognize her name—
“Valentina Barnes.”
〝 My friends are like you, then. Can't tell you how many times i've been scolded during briefings for being on my phone. 〞
It's a habit she's since stopped, but the amount of times it's happened still counts.
“That’s the difference between us. I’m usually the one forcing others to put their phones down, especially Bucky.”
And he forces her to put her BOOK down, but this isn’t about her—
She snorts lightly in amusement, phone slipped into her back pocket.
〝 Wish I could say the same for me, except i'm the worst on the team when it comes to getting distracted by a phone screen. 〞
A soft chuckle leaves her, head shaking as she shifts her weight.
“I wish we had that problem back at base. I’m used to people nearly running into me because they’re on the phone.”
Specifically Pietro.
There's a breath of relief exhaled as the brunette places a hand to her chest.
〝 I just tend to walk fast when i'm out, especially while distracted, 〞she sheepishly admits, lips forming a friendly smile in response. 〝 I'm usually better at watching where i'm going, though. 〞
/Thankfully/ (for both women), her years of training keep her from spilling coffee over them both.
That’s all it would take to ruin her day.
“Its fine.” Smiling gently at her, the redhead tilted her head slightly, a brow raising. “Are you hurrying somewhere?”
@IntrepidSapient A hand reaches forth, palm making to lightly push the papers across the table surface and thus away from her lover.
The cheeky grin across scarred tiers is rather expected from her.
〝 No, you look pretty unoccupied to me. Lucky I swooped in to save you from, uh. . boredom. 〞
A pair of arms slip around @IntrepidSapient's torso from behind, regardless of what the other was doing.
A soft hum emits, nose grazing the other's cheekbone as she mumbles ;
〝 Hi, Wife. 〞
Daisy /almost/ runs right into her, having been distracted with her phone she had held in her hand.
Fortunately, she manages to shift so that it was only her shoulder that bumps into the other, rather than. . well, her whole self.
〝 Crap, i'm sorry! 〞
Catch her walking down a side street with her favorite coffee in her hand and a bag with her new book hanging from her wrist.
Her birthday is off to a great start already~.
Well, given as she’d dived for the cupcake the moment she caught sight of it, she was more confetti and icing than she was inhuman at this point.
Excellent. https://t.co/VeQd7HVPXF
Given as its @RuinousRipples’ birthday, Loki’s opted to leave her a birthday cupcake . . .
. . . which will explode and cover her in multi-hued confetti and icing the moment she touches it, but it’s the thought that counts.
@IntrepidSapient . . a /little/? This is e v e r y t h i n g.
The moment the puppy was revealed to her, Daisy felt her heart swell with happiness— such was put in display by the water she felt building behind her lower lashes. “I-Is that a— oh my god, a puppy!” Her face lit up, arms —
