I cringe a bit when someone (Wright Thompson in this case) says something like “It’s nearly impossible to win.” Someone wins literally EVERY golf tournament, including the @PGAChampionship. It’s clearly not “nearly impossible.” “Difficult to win” I can understand. Impossible? No.
@StickDockton@KylePorterNS There is no such thing as the spirit of the rules. There are only the Rules of Golf and the spirit of the game, which is/includes… following the rules.
@grue666@GregChalmersPGA It wasn't on at the start of the round and got stuck on it during the round. Just as you're not allowed to add lead tape or a counter-weight or anything, you can't alter a club in that way during the round. It has nothing to do with the sensor itself.
@_KeithCook@LouStagner That's not what the naked eye means. You can't escape it because you weren't looking.
The movement of the ball was almost surely visible to the naked eye. It should be a penalty.
@DuboisAD1463 @GSikes51 @dtmortellaro@LouStagner You want one thing for all situations? Here you go: you're an idiot. That explains it better than you've managed to do. 🤣
A ball is put into play when a player makes a stroke at it. Pretty simple.
@sir12304@NoLayingUp No, it has to be enough movement to see it with the naked eye. A ball moving on HD zoomed in video 1mm might not pass the test. A ball moving an inch is visible to the naked eye, whether the player was looking at it or not.
@1919X1919X@Stocks12@NUCLRGOLF It’s reasonable to take 17 seconds to walk 20 feet? Most rules officials disagree and would have given him a stroke. The @PGATOUR is soft in this case, and Tommy was near the lead.
@LarryTheSir@NUCLRGOLF Most rules officials would have added a stroke. He took far too long to have a reasonable reaction and make his way to the hole. The @PGATOUR is soft.
