I see so many people online declaring that Comicsgate is dead... and I couldn't disagree more.

The truth is, Comicsgate is still very much alive. But it's being weighed down by too many people who show up expecting the movement to do something FOR them instead of actually contributing TO it.

Look, it's not enough to just roll up with your "independent" comic, your half-baked idea, or your Kickstarter campaign and demand that the community carry you. If your book or concept doesn't have broad market appeal—if it's not something that can actually sell to real readers outside your echo chamber—you're not helping. You're dragging the whole thing down.

Your existence as a creator shouldn't depend on Comicsgate funding you. You should already have some success, some proven ability to deliver a product that people actually want, BEFORE you show up here. Otherwise, what exactly are you contributing? Nothing.

Comicsgate was never a welfare program for mediocre creators. It was about taking back the industry from the people who ruined it. If you're not bringing real talent, real marketability, and real value to the table... maybe step back and level up first.

The movement isn't dead. It's just tired of carrying dead weight.

Now let's make comics.

I don't know all the details of what's going on between @KatyDidClips and her @YouTube channel getting taken down.

What I do know is that my friend @Frost_Comics reached out and asked me to help spread the word because Katy's YouTube channel was apparently taken down, and he believes she was treated unfairly.

I've never personally spoken with Katy, but I trust Jared's judgment. He's earned that trust over the years. If he's telling me that Katy is good people and that she's being targeted, I have no reason to doubt him.

So this is me lending my support and hoping Katy gets her channel back. From what I've seen, she's used her platform to help indie comic creators get visibility and funding, including helping my friend @Frost_Comics and @GnarlyComic . People like that are valuable to the indie comics community.

When I launch my next comic, I'd love the opportunity to join one of her livestreams and hopefully have her help me reach new readers as well.

People like us need people like Katy and others to help us share our work. They can't have their channels struck down because of drama. Please restore her channel, @TeamYouTube.
