Gad Saad is absolutely right. There is something deeply disturbing about people who preach tolerance, compassion and inclusion while expressing contempt for anyone who disagrees with their politics.

Jennifer Welch’s apparent satisfaction over the death of a political opponent is morally repugnant. Scott Galloway’s comparison of Elon Musk to the Rosenbergs, who were executed for espionage, deserves equally serious criticism.

I have studied enough history, political philosophy and psychology to recognize the danger of this kind of thinking. When ideological certainty replaces reason, political opponents stop being fellow human beings and become enemies to be punished.

The irony is staggering. Some of the loudest voices demanding tolerance seem incapable of practising it themselves.

You can despise someone’s politics without celebrating their death or entertaining fantasies about their execution.

A civilized society depends on reason, individual rights and the willingness to challenge ideas without dehumanizing people.

Gad is exposing something worth confronting: moral self-righteousness is no substitute for moral character. And a university education is certainly no guarantee of either wisdom or decency.
