Run 2 Rescue is a Christian non-profit organization that seeks to reach, rescue and restore victims of Human Trafficking. A person was not created to be sold!
We have seen firsthand the frustration with getting these girls rescued, whether it is bringing them in off the streets or they run away as soon as a social worker comes to pick them up. There are so many things that need to change so we can get these young victims the help they need. We need laws in place that protect our children, an overhaul in our foster care system, and more people willing to be the solution. Run 2 Rescue works hard to do it differently, making sure these kids have a place that feels like home.
Most runaways are from the foster care system. Run 2 Rescue is committed to finding ways to reform the foster care system that makes already vulnerable children even more vulnerable. What we have right now is not working.
@ChristinaPushaw YES!!!!! These girls are victims! Run 2 Rescue is committed to changing how victims receive services and finding ways to reform the foster care system that makes already vulnerable children even more vulnerable. What we have right now is not working.
@FrankLuntz@GavinNewsom Calling them โProstitutesโ implies that they have a choice in the matter; in reality since these are minors they are ALL victims of trafficking & rape.
I would not be surprised if some of them were trafficked across the border

@MattFinnFNC@FrankLuntz@GavinNewsom Yes, it took out the main leaders of the Hoover gang, crippling them. It just left the door open for others to step into the void it created.
@Sal_LaBarbera@lalovestrump Sadly, they will all be moved to Holt or G Street when it gets too hot on Fig. The problem won't be fixed; it just won't be seen.
Emily did a GREAT job working hard to ensure this was exposed. When we tell people what's happening on Fig, they haven't believed us or couldn't wrap their minds around it. We had to literally take them there to see. I can say these girls are amazing, and the girls in the story we were able to help.
@AmericanMadeDog@FrankLuntz@GavinNewsom That is correct. We work with some amazing law enforcement who choose to work down there with the intent of ending this tragedy. Yet they can do all the work, but if someone isn't willing to prosecute because the laws tie their hands, then traffickers go free.
@keegan_tweets Yes, girls are put out there at 6:00 AM when most kids are getting ready for school. A few of us care and are fighting an uphill battle to save these kids. Thank you for getting the word out. This is how real change begins.
@helaineolen Thank you for sharing this article. We have been helping victims on Fig since 2012. Now people are seeing the real issue and travesty that we see all the time.
@TonySeruga TThank you for posting the article. Since 2012, Run 2 Rescue has worked with rescued girls sold on Figueroa. This article highlights the horrors occurring there. Thank you for sharing.

We want to thank Emily Baumgaertner Nunn and The New York Times for shining a light on the harsh realities of trafficking right here in our own backyard with her powerful article: โCan Anyone Rescue the Trafficked Girls of L.A.โs Figueroa Street?โ @nytimes@LAPD77thSt
We are so proud of โAโ for all she has accomplished since being rescued! Her courage and growth continue to inspire us every day. ๐
Our hope is that this story helps change how people view victims of trafficking. They are not defined by what happened to them, but by the strength it takes to survive and rebuild.
๐ Read, comment, and share to help spread awareness. Together, we can bring hope and freedom to more survivors. Visit our website https://t.co/xeHsVkdRhn
This is a great question. Yes, they are pimps. Laws are much lighter for pimping and pandering, even though it's a felony focused on profiting from and facilitating prostitution. Trafficking charges, however, fall under human trafficking laws and involve coercion, force, and exploitation. It overlaps with pimping and pandering but carries much harsher penalties. So, to answer your question, the term "trafficker" holds harsher sentences, and yes, they are pimps.
