This gave me chills.
See the joy on Ireland Broderick's face? She's #2 for @vhstigers. This moment was full of so many emotions.
Mike Broderick tragically lost his battle with liver cancer in January of this year. The husband and father of four girls was only 51. He served in the @USArmy for 20 years and was a firefighter for 17 years for @DSMFireDept and Norwalk.
Wednesday was one of those moments Mike had dreamed about. Ireland had the game of her life in the field and at the plate. She was 3-4 with a HR. Her team beat Ankeny 8-1 to advance to the 5A championship. She got to be the one to put her team's sticker on the bracket to advance them. Her dad's firefighter decal was on everyone's helmet during the game.
