The first one is a more complex question/answer. Many "Indian" components are sourced from Indian vendors who have imported the component, without any alteration, from an international vendor. So the receipt says the component is Indian, even though the actual origin isn't Indian. This is how you can have a 100% BOM indigenous product that is actually not indigenous. The startup bought everything from Indian vendors, but those vendors didn't make the components in India.
Even if a component was fabricated in India though, the materials it was made from may not originate in India. The further back you go in the supply chain, the less likely it is that the founder of the company RuntimeBRT is featuring actually knows the origin of their product (at a raw material level).
All of this to say, "Indian vs. imported" is not a black and white thing. The team and I will discuss this though and see if we can come up with some kind of scoring system or criteria. Perhaps if we implement such a system, it will indirectly incentivise companies to work on localising their supply chain.

I like @RuntimeBRT posting Indian tech developments. But 2 details must be added for each announcement:
1. What % of the tech is Indian vs imported.
2. Where is it in the development pipeline - from lab prototype and demo all the way successfully competing at global standards. This is a huge distance.
Without these specifics, many announcements are misleading.

๐จ Bengaluru-based @xTerraRobotics has launched a wheeled quadruped, DHAV-Hy. It is fully indigenous, being designed, engineered and built in India.
It has a max speed of 5 m/s, and a payload capacity 10 kg for all terrains. This wheeled variant has been in R&D for three months, and xTerra is actively piloting DHAV-Hy in industries for inspection.
๐จ Bengaluru-based Dheya Engineering Technologies has just raised โน43 crore rupees in a funding round led by Avaana Capital.
They have developed 200N and 500N micro turbojet engines, with flight trials planned for Q4 of 2026 and confirmed OEM orders from India and overseas.
๐จ Lingampalli Himaja, a 20-year-old student from Andhra Pradesh, has just won Indiaโs 2026 James Dyson Award for RUDHRA, a voice-controlled Braille printer.
It uses Alexa to convert speech into text, and a Raspberry Pi translates that into Braille and embosses it onto paper.
๐จ Coimbatore-based GOAT Robotics (@goat_robotics) has just unveiled GT-XP, an autonomous pallet-handling robot capable of moving payloads of up to 5 tonnes.
It uses SLAM navigation, LiDAR, an IMU, wheel encoders and a depth camera to autonomously pick, move and place pallets
๐จ Hyderabad-based Beijan has just raised โน1.7 crore rupees in their pre-seed round from AJVC.
Theyโre building BANM, a sub-200g module that can attach to any drone and keep it navigating when GPS is jammed or spoofed, using onboard visual odometry instead of satellite signals.
This is India's most advanced electric tactical vehicle, VEER.
The company behind it, Pravaig Dynamics (@pravaigdynamics), has come a long way. They began R&D in 2011 and rose to prominence in 2020 when they unveiled a concept car, Extinction MK1.
Today, six years later, the company's order book is extensive. Defence customers are very keen to add Pravaig's indigenously developed and manufactured flagship EV to their fleets.

We visited Pravaig's manufacturing facility in Bengaluru to test the VEER out and see how they're building it right here in India.
๐จ IIT Bombayโs AUV team has won the Wildcard Challenge at RoboSub 2026 in California, competing against 58 teams from 9 countries.
The team deployed two autonomous underwater vehicles, Matsya 7 and Mini Matsya, operating in parallel to complete underwater tasks.
Most large businesses in India use a mix of filters and chemicals to treat wastewater. Billions of litres undergo treatment every day before being discharged back into India's rivers and groundwater.
A Maharashtra-based company, Indra (@IndraWaterIndia), has patented an alternative solution that allows industries to recycle water instead of dumping it. Their line of electrochemical reactors, called ElectroX, use non-contact micro-electrolysis to purify and recycle water so that it can be reused for things like flushing toilets, irrigation and gardening, cleaning, cooling towers, HVAC, boilers, and industrial processes across textiles, metals, and pharma.
Indra's ElectroX reactors are now being used across India, Indonesia, and Vietnam, and they plan to continue their global expansion in the coming months and years.

Rakshak uses computer vision to identify weeds in real time and can accommodate up to four laser modules.
