🇷🇺 В преддверии Дня русского языка, отмечаемого 6 июня в день рождения А.С.Пушкина, в Канберре прошло памятное мероприятие, собравшее сотрудников Посольства России в Австралии, соотечественников и учащихся начальной общеобразовательной школы при дипмиссии.

🗣 В своем приветственном слове Посол М.И.Петраков отметил, что бессмертное творчество Александра Сергеевича остается прочным духовным мостом, связывающим поколения и помогающим сохранять и передавать детям родную речь в любой точке мира.

📖 Гости смогли ознакомиться с инте��активной выставкой «С молодежного на великорусский: объясняет Даль», предлагающей оригинальный взгляд на современный молодежный сленг через призму словаря В.И.Даля.

🎥 В кинозале Посольства был организован совместный просмотр фильма «Сказка о царе Салтане».

🎶 Одним из культурных событий, приуроченных к праздничной дате, стал концерт русской классической музыки в честь великого поэта, состоявшийся 5 июня в Сиднейском оперном театре. Публика тепло приветствовала блистательную исполнительницу романсов А.Гёкнур Шанал и известную пианистку и дирижера Н.Распопову.

💐 6 июня российские дипломаты в Австралии вместе с соотечественниками возложили цветы к памятн��ку А.С.Пушкину, установленному в Русском клубе в Стратфилде (г.Сидней).

🇷🇺🇻🇺 From 31 May to 3 June, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Mikhail Petrakov visited Port Vila to present his credentials to the President of the Republic of Vanuatu H.E. the Hon. Nikenike Vurobaravu.

🤝 Following the official ceremony at the State House, a meeting was held during which the parties reaffirmed the longstanding and friendly relations between the Russian Federation and Vanuatu and discussed prospects for further strengthening bilateral ties.

❗️During the visit, the Ambassador was received by the Prime Minister the Hon. Jotham Napat and the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade Mr. Jimmy Rantes. The consultations focused on practical aspects of bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, as well as on cultural and humanitarian matters. Particular attention was devoted to preparations for commemorating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Vanuatu to be marked on 30 June 2026.

💐 Ambassador Petrakov laid flowers at the monument to the distinguished navigator and explorer Vice Admiral Vasily Golovnin unveiled in Port Vila in 2009 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the first Russian visit to the islands. The first recorded contact dates back to 1809, when the Russian sloop “Diana” commanded by Golovnin arrived at Port Resolution on the island of Tanna (in present-day Vanuatu).

🎨 The Head of the Russian diplomatic mission also visited the Michoutouchkine-Pilioko Foundation. Our compatriot, painter and collector of Pacific artefacts Nikolai Michoutouchkine lived in Vanuatu for nearly fifty years and devoted much of his life to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Oceania. Together with the renowned Vanuatuan artist Aloi Pilioko, he made an outstanding contribution to the cultural life of the country.

🇨🇳 As part of the visit programme, Mr. Mikhail Petrakov paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Vanuatu H.E. Mr. Li Minggang.

Our attention was drawn to an article by Will Swanton, published in The Australian on 5 June, which contains a number of hostile anti-Russian remarks and seeks to politicise sport in pursuit of a narrow political agenda.

Commenting on Mirra Andreeva���s victory in the French Open semi-final, the author deliberately emphasised her Russian origin, adding that “we dislike her nation for the mass slaughter of innocents”. Doesn’t expressing dislike for an entire nation sound racist?

As for the “mass slaughter of innocents”, does Mr Swanton possess enough decency and journalistic integrity to tell his readers the truth about the bloody terrorist attack carried out by the neo-Nazi Kiev regime against a college in Starobelsk on 22 May, which claimed the lives of 18 young women and three young men? Would he dare to say that he dislikes the Ukrainian nation because of this, particularly given the long list of crimes against the civilian population committed by the Zelensky’s junta?

🕯️The portraits of the students are currently on display in the public reception area of the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Australia. Our thoughts remain with the innocent victims and their families.
