@AdamJardy We had meetings during the week to go over the script and promotions and then it was game day. My wife and family all came to the game. As the show was starting, someone in the booth saw the smoke coming from the scoreboard. The game producer started panicking on the comms (2/3)

@Big_Libbowski @awrightdesigns I totally agree with you. But Universities won’t pay for it. So you end up with a staff of 5 creatives for football, 3 for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and 4 creatives for the other 33 sports.

And then tell you to hire more students.

@josettecaruso @PicturesFoIder This is correct for the most part. I was a graphics person who created gfx like these. The real trick was that the camera operators would find the fan first. They would show me the fan, and I would then go search for an image of that celebrity that looked like the fan.

I tried to get something going after we saw Notre Dame’s new facilities and were able to piecemeal some things together, but the leadership at the time lacked the vision to truly achieve something great.

@Sooner_Hix @shaggy_allstar @drewsky18 A couple years ago, they gave staff these really nice gifts for a good season. The next week, everyone got a notice that the taxable value would be automatically deducted. It’s like, “no thanks.”

@Sooner_Hix @shaggy_allstar @drewsky18 Haha!!! Funny story about that. In the early years coaches would give us a t-shirt or two from time to time. But we were a state school and about 10 years ago we had to start reporting those as taxable income. Everybody stopped taking them almost immediately.

@MattBrownEP I left athletics in 2022. My work life balance is 100 times better, my bank account is bigger, and my stress level is low. Best move I ever made.

@HenryLeeIII @drewsky18 Except the market pays a ton more. Athletics can keep the salaries low for the “prestige”. But same work in corporate or as freelancer pays much more.

@shaggy_allstar @drewsky18 No.. I left athletics for the real world and it was life changing. The athletic departments expect you to work 70+ hours a week, for low pay and the prestige of working there. Oh, and you are expected to be on call 24-7. Oh, and you don’t get holidays off. And I could go on…
