Spent a few weeks in the summer of ‘90 at “Tournament Tough”.. a who’s-who of tennis nerds’(like me!) favorites were training there, too (certainly not with me). What a legend! RIP Carlos Goffi.
Was very sorry to hear of the passing of Carlos Goffi, a brilliant tennis mind and coach (of the McEnroe’s notably). His “Tournament Tough” book and camps were such tools for young players. Here he is with me and Tom Fish in Vero Beach from February when he stopped for a visit.
This gave me goosebumps.
Owner Mike Repole consoles jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. after finishing behind his brother in 2nd place at the Kentucky Derby
“If you’re ever going to lose, you lose to your brother. Family won today.” ❤️
Pellegrino Matarazzo, the pride of Fair Lawn, NJ, led Real Sociedad to Copa del Rey glory 🇺🇸
Here he is at the trophy parade, leading thousands of supporters in song. What a day for he and La Real, what a story for football in the US 👏
This is effin' wild.
An American coach has led his team to a trophy in a top five league, and this is what it means to their fans.
From a relegation battle to lifting a trophy and Champions League spots well within their reach.

I’m honestly shocked to see my illustration being used on T-shirts sold at the Monte-Carlo Masters without my permission or a licence.
I never expected something like this from such a major tournament.
If someone from the organisers sees this, please contact me so we can resolve this properly.

No word on when Cole Hutson makes his NHL debut. But when he does, and assuming Ovechkin is in lineup, Hutson becomes Ovi’s 1st teammate who was born after the captain’s NHL debut. Hutson born 6/28/06, days after Ovi won Calder and introduced Backstrom on stage at Draft in VAN.
The National Soccer Hall of Fame announces that @SoccerInsider is the recipient of this year's Colin Jose Award, for his lifetime achievements in soccer journalism. A richly deserved recognition for one of the all-time greats in our line of work. Congrats, Steve.
Also for younger folks: Back in the day, sports fans/degenerates used to call 976-1313, known as “Sports Phone,” to get scores.
I worked there pre SI in ‘97-‘98. Every 10 minutes, I’d go into a tiny booth and record a message with the current scores.
A great time to be alive.
I want to sincerely thank one of the great writers out there, @barrysvrluga, who will sadly be closing this chapter with the @washingtonpost…you have covered the highs and lows of my career with integrity and passion. Thank you. Looking forward to following your next chapter.🙏
Pouring one out for The Reverend Jesse Jackson. A giant and a champion for civil rights and equality.
But can anyone read Green Eggs and Ham better? No.
Fifteen years ago, I got my dream job writing for MLSsoccer. Last week, that came to an end.
I'm off on my own, and it's time to build something new – with a little help from all of you.
