The jury is in, water privatisation has failed. So I'm introducing a bill to Parliament that would democratise water ownership. On 28th March, MPs can put public ownership of water on the table by backing my bill.
Ask your MP to be there.

Good to visit fizzing with ideas exhibition stalls for #evidenceweek the yearly highlight fixture of @senseaboutsci where I met @tandfnewsroom and @LSEnews and heard about their ongoing research on AI and adult social care sector
All those critiquing @elonmusk (rightly so) should begin by questioning those calling him a “genius” or even a “tech
bro”. He invented NONE of the TECH. Just bought stuff at the right time. More marketing than science. He’s benefitted by billions of government dollars that he questions when given to others. Clear regressive political agenda: underfund government (even more) hoping that deregulation and a weak state can make outer space his playground & sling mud like a child at all progressive politicians like @Keir_Starmer. I wrote about this more than a decade ago in my book The Entrepreneurial State.
“Thames Water intentionally diverted millions of pounds pledged for environmental clean-ups towards other costs including bonuses” 🤯
This is an absolute scandal. Thames Water shouldn’t be let off the hook – they should face criminal consequences.

Copies of a new book about the Spireites have just arrived in the Club Superstore! The book, priced at £16.99, would make an ideal Christmas gift for a Spireite. 🔵⚪️🎄

Today over 100,000 former mineworkers across the UK received a 32% uplift in their pensions.
I am proud that we have ended the injustice of the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme.
That’s the difference a Labour government makes to our coalfield communities.

The UK is spending £369m refurbishing Buckingham Palace for King Charles, who has £22bn and gets £500m more a year.
He can pay for his own renovations, £369m is more than England spends on building Social Housing in an entire year for the whole country.
Love this story, @deevybee is very cool. She says she thought it wouldn't have much impact but it's a lead story in the news. Principles!! guardhttps://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/nov/25/oxford-scientist-resigns-from-royal-society-over-elon-musks-continuing-fellowship
I have nothing but love for everyone who has shared the video or song link on their social media

1. I don’t often tweet about my personal life, but on 1st November, my mum Jane was hit by a large vehicle as a pedestrian in St. Louis, USA. She suffered a severe brain injury & remains in a coma in hospital.
Here's Jane & me in happier times.
Two papers.
On the left, a non-randomized, non-crossover study showing that a one-off sauna exposure significantly decreased arterial stiffness, with implications on cardiovascular health.
On the right, a randomized, crossover (more robust) study, showing no benefits on arterial stiffness or blood flow. Note the colossal difference in Altmetric score and media attention.
The media favors sensational but flawed studies over rigorous ones, distorting public understanding. #science #media
Exciting news: the UK's first railway co-operative, Go-op, is set to launch services, following the call example of @Railcoop_SCIC in France. This demonstrates how the co-operative model is relevant to many sectors of the economy.
