Just been giving some Chair advice to a friend who’s taking on their first Chair role. Summary of what I’ve learned:
1. You best lead when you grow and enable the next generation of leaders
2. As soon as you get power give as much of it away as you can

When in St Ives - couldn’t miss a visit to the Leach Pottery. Great storytelling & wonderful to see a spotlight on female potters like Katharine Pleydell-Bouverie
Sun was out at @NTKillerton yesterday. The exhibition was wonderful - reusing and adapting clothes to prevent waste, an old principle much needed in a modern world
Last week I had the privileged of a little visit to this beauty. No photo can do it justice - the pink roses, bright sunshine, beautiful village surrounding it & the church bells. Felt very lucky to have such a lovely job!
The replicas are part of a special exhibition at Aynho Park – one of Britain’s finest country houses, extensively remodelled by John Soane in 1798 – which has been beautifully restored and opened to the public for the first time as the heart of the newly launched #RHEngland! ✨
Sir John Soane was a great collector of models, so we’re sure he’d appreciate the skill and craft involved in creating these fantastic facsimiles of items from his collection, including his own likeness, digitally scanned and reproduced by the talented @FactumArte team! 🗿🏛️
We’ve found the Book of Hours captured by Holbein in his famous portrait of #ThomasCromwell! Cromwell’s book is one of the few objects depicted in a Tudor portrait to survive. @TracyBorman has dubbed it “the most exciting Cromwell discovery in a generation - if not more.”
Couldn’t help snapping some pics of the fabulous collection. And look at those painting racks! 😻 No one who has looked after collections can resist a nosy in a storeroom whenever they get the chance!
Excellent day exploring @CharlecoteNT with their fabulous Facilities team. A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes to keep these special places in good nick. Thanks to @TheRebeccaRiots for the warm welcome & the cuppa!
Privileged to see State Dining Room restoration progress and few weeks ago. I’ve been imagining what this room would look like complete for 18 years. Can’t wait for the final reveal! @StoweHouse
Wonderful day celebrating Coleshill’s Heritage & Rural Skills Centre launch. For those who remember it as it was in 2017 the transformation is particularly staggering. The team have done a wonderful job & have clearly worked so hard. I’m so proud to have played even a small part
