Dear Keir Starmer, Brexit was won though the worst abuses of democracy in modern British history - 37% of an electorate rigged to exclude the most affected groups, while allowing Commonwealth nationals to vote, a torrent of lies and fascist hate directed against migrants, death threats, threats of violence, an MP killed by a Brexit terrorist, Russian interference, and interference from the USA.
Brexit is costing the economy £100bn a year and the government budget £40bn a year. Brexit is a hard right project designed to cripple a Labour government.
Brexit robbed the British people of our right to Freedom of Movement across 30 countries.
If you care about democracy and the welfare of the British people, you will lead the UK back into the EU and put an end to the deluded madness of Brexit.
#RejoinEU
A SIMPLE QUESTION - WHY?
WHY won’t you rejoin the Single Market?
WHY are you against free movement?
WHY are you against rejoining the most successful trading bloc in history?
Sitting astride an ever accelerating spiral of decline, we’d quite like to know!

Rejoin Campaign https://t.co/PDtCjHO6of
The UK now faces the prospect of being a nobody to a fascist MAGA autocracy, and outside the room of one of the world’s largest trading blocks right on its doorstep. As China & India rise to equal both in economic might.
Britain is about to discover how stupid Brexit really was.
SHOCKING FACT: Shell paid out $23 BILLION to shareholders in 2023, that could pay a YEAR'S SALARY to over 500,000 NEW JUNIOR DOCTORS, over 600,000 NEW NURSES or could cover the installation of over 1 million HEAT PUMPS or 60 million NEW SOLAR PANELS.
Tax. Big. Oil. Now.
The Tories are out. That's a given. With that in mind, what's the best outcome of the GE?
The huge prize at this election is the Tories coming THIRD. Tactical voting can deliver it.
(Long tweet. Please expand. Thanks.)
If the Tories were to come third, it would change absolutely everything.
Read on to find out why...
If the Tories come second, they will form the official Opposition i.e. they will take over the role that Labour have now.
If they come third, they'll get nothing. There's no bronze medal prize. (Aside from 2 questions at PMQ every week.)
It would mean the difference between them biding their time until they can regroup, and being finished forever as a political force.
Here are some of the benefits the Opposition get given:
- 6 questions at PMQs every week
- Guaranteed regular coverage from the BBC and other media outlets that are subject to balance requirements
- 17 Opposition Days during which they get to set the agenda and hold votes
- First right to reply to key speeches like the King's Speech and the Budget (and all the press coverage that brings)
- Opening and closing statements in HoC debates after/before the Government
- Additional Short Money - almost £1 million - to fund the running costs of the Leader of the Opposition's office
- The right to form a Shadow Cabinet (other parties can mirror government functions, but nobody really cares in practice) as a "government in waiting"
- The right to propose amendments, and a much greater chance of having those amendments selected
- Chairs of several Select Committees
- Privy Council membership for senior figures
- Office of the Leader of the Opposition, with additional resources and staff
If the Tories aren't the second-place party, they wouldn't get any of the above. Without it, the path to rebuilding would be a vertical cliff. With no platform and no clout, Tory funders and party members will desert them in droves.
That's why it's essential to vote tactically to get the Tories out, no matter what you feel about the current incarnation of Labour. (I'm furious about their views on Brexit and other issues.)
Tactical voting is not about Labour. That's so important, I'll say it again: tactical voting is not about Labour. Labour will get a stonking majority with or without tactical voting. That may be good, that may be terrible - it's reality.
No, tactical voting is all about trying to knock the Tories down to third place, rather than second.
And that means working to get the LibDems into second. (No other party can come second to displace the Tories this election cycle.)
The chance will never come again to wipe the Tories out for good. Literally never. We will never see the perfect storm of factors converge again:
- 14 years of Conservative rule, marked by growing public discontent
- A string of mismanagement issues, from the PPE scandal to Brexit complications
- The rise of Reform UK, splitting the traditional Conservative vote and the perfect protest vote for people who would never vote Labour, LibDem or Green
- A resurgent Liberal Democrat party
- An astonishingly poor Conservative election campaign
And with the LibDems in Opposition, the topic of Brexit will finally get a proper and frequent airing. That will advance the cause of Rejoin more than any other action possibly could.
So hold your nose. Look past your frustration, your distaste, your anger, your apathy. And vote for whichever party can beat the Tories in your constituency.
That might be Labour, LibDems, Greens or SNP. (If you haven't been paying attention to recent polls and local trends, it may not be the party you expect!)
NOTE: The 2019 GE is a useless guide. Things have changed too much since then.
An excellent resource is this tactical voting site, where you can look up the party best placed to beat the Tories in your constituency.

Eyes on the prize. Always. Eyes on the prize.
Your daily reminder that Britain never voted to leave the Single Market ... Because it wasn't even on the ballot! ... Leaving the Single Market was a POLITICAL decision by the Conservative government. So no FUTURE government is bound by it.
The Conservatives reacted to COVID the way they react to all crises; ignored it for as long as possible then said “Ok I guess this is actually happening… So; how do we make money out of it?”
So Sunak wants to cut the welfare bill by £12B by next year… funny that’s exactly the amount he wrote off with the £12B useless PPE. So the £££ Tories lined their pockets with is gonna be covered by the poorest families in society? Ok got it.
Whichever party is or isn't exciting you, if you're following me the chances are it isn't the Tories.
A reminder that tactical voting is the best way to consign this toxic binfire of English nationalism to history.
Please vote for the candidate most likely to beat the Tory. 🙏
